I just looked at the new classifications and realized Caverna and Fulton County are in the same district. That is a 3 1/2 hour drive for a district game. Wow.

Kentucky high school football: What will realignment mean?

 

Interesting article on realignment. Didn’t realize in 6A for first 3 years; Trinity, St.X, and Male can’t meet until semifinals. All 3 schools are in different districts. Using these 3 schools as example since they could always lose before that round.

At one point in the 90’s, Newport’s district consisted of Newport, Lloyd, Russell, Fleming Co, East Carter, West Carter, Mason Co and Lewis Co. you want to talk about travel.

That 5A District 5 should be make for some very good games. With the CCH-HHS and Cooper-Conner rivalries and Boone somewhat getting things turned around it should make for some competitive games to watch IMO.

I'd say driving to Glasgow is a better trip for Meade Co. than going down to the south end of BG like when Greenwood was in their district.

This may be off topic and needs its own thread but when contracts be finalized for the 2019 season and we have an idea of each team's schedule?

A number of teams have already signed their out of district contracts. Many of the districts I believe have already set their schedule though they have signed contracts in case things need to be moved around.
