OlDog75
Palm ball is correct. It was essentially a change-up , of sorts. Giusti was the pitcher most associated with the pitch. Speaking of the screwball, I threw that on occasion as well. Oldog75, do you remember what Reds' lefty from the '70's specialized in the screwball. He came over to us in a trade with the Padres. The name that came to mind first was Freddie Norman.
ThrillVille Cardinal51
I remember doing my homework and watching Mark McGuire break the record. It was really exciting for me at the time. The tops for me was Jay Bruce clinching the NL central in 2010. I was elated.
Science Friction
The name that came to mind first was Freddie Norman. Your first thoughts are good thoughts. Little Freddie Norman, 5'7 '' or 5' 8", about 150 or 155 lbs. He could baffle hitters with his screwball.

Clyde
Hal King hit a big home run in a double header in like 1974 that started a major Reds comeback. I seem to remember it being a grand slam.
