John Anthony
All depends on if you support the US getting info on some of the worst people on the planet.
PepRock01
Yes, if that can be proved. In general, I am in favor. If it is proved to be effective then I would potentially support it. However from whatI have seen most experts in the field of interrogation have said that it tends to give inaccurate information as opposed to real and actionable data. However if the experts in the field feel otherwise then I will defer to them.

Science Friction
I'm all for torturing the bad guys if it prevents them from doing bad things in the future. Therein lies the problem. It won't. Most experts seem to agree that torture is not effective in getting to the truth.
jbird
I believe he said today that he thinks it works, and he disagrees with General Mattis on it, but that General Mattis gets to make the call. Trump says Mattis will 'override' his own views on torture - NY Daily News One thing about Pres. Trump is that he is impressionable. I don't know if I love or hate that about him. Sec. Of Defense Mattis is a very reasonable and logical man, as long as Trump has him whispering in his ear for advice I can sort of have a sigh of relief. UKMustangFan
I'll go with the experts overseas who's actually fighting for us and who hunted down OBL. And what about the Generals and other military guys who say it's ineffective? Don't their opinions carry significant weight?
formerkywrestler
And what about the Generals and other military guys who say it's ineffective? Don't their opinions carry significant weight? Secretary Mattis is against it, isn't he?
jbird
Secretary Mattis is against it, isn't he? Yep and apparently Trump will let Mattis override his opinion. I hope that's the case more often than not.
UKMustangFan
Secretary Mattis is against it, isn't he? Correct. The POTUS has said while he disagrees with him on it, he's letting Sec. Mattis make the call.
