December 13, 201510 yr May be Coach, but I was hoping they could make a statement with the game today. I'll stand by my post though. Bengals three seed, play Steelers first round and Bengals lose again but I hope I'm wrong. I thought I heard on WLW radio this morning from some talking heads who cover NFL that this was a deep Bengals team. Deep overall. Doesn't make them deep at QB.
December 13, 201510 yr Dalton has a fractured thumb: Andy Dalton of Cincinnati Bengals has fractured right thumb
December 13, 201510 yr Doubt that it would have made a difference with AD, however, they hung around for a lot longer that I thought. This is on the defense in my mind. The Steelers controlled the ball and the game. The only bright spot there was they kept them out of the end zone 4 of 6 trips inside the 20. Big Ben is in a groove, though. McCarron did well, but he looked like a guy making his first extended action in a live NFL game. He should get better and they should be able to beat the 49ers and Ravens. Tip my hat to the Steelers they outplayed us today.
December 13, 201510 yr Sort of like the Steelets losing the best RB in the league in the last matchup That was a tough loss with Bell, but you can't compare a RB's impact compared to a QB.
December 13, 201510 yr I broke my thumb in a very similar situation to Dalton's (not awkwardly making a tackle, but dove and thumb caught in the turf). The tendon pulled a chunk of the bone off. I couldn't even hold a book open. If that's what he did then welcome to #McCarronNation
December 13, 201510 yr Did the Bengals peak too soon this season? No. They lost for the third time in 13 tries to a rival in a division game. In this game they lost their starting QB who had been playing at a high level all year (Dalton), the biggest difference maker this year compared to last (Eifert), their best LB who helped take the defense to another level when he returned a few weeks ago (Burfict), and a starter in an already aging and depleted secondary (Iloka while Pac Man didn't dress). The Steelers were a much better team today and depending on how the Bengals can heal and adjust might be for the rest of the year, but today's outcome had nothing to do with peaking early.

Well, I mean, they have lost 3 of their last 5 games after starting 8-0. If they didn't peak too soon...what happened?
December 13, 201510 yr Just said on the Cowboys/Packers game that Dalton thumb injury was season ending. Tough break for the Bengals and for Dalton.
December 14, 201510 yr The biggest loss for THIS game was not Andy or Eifert. The biggest loss was Pac-Man. We have zero secondary without him covering a teams best receiver. I don't know how many 3rd and longs the steelers picked up because we left a guy wide open in the middle of the field, it was horrible. Now for the big picture, Andy being gone probably eliminates our shot at a Super Bowl, but then again AJ did compare himself to Brady in 2001. But we still have a great shot to win out in my opinion, if we aren't at least the 2 seed, it won't be the fact that Andy's out, I guarantee that. SF next week should be just absolutely pound the ball with Hill and Gio and we should be just fine there. Denver game is the big one, but they aren't exactly a dynamic offense. Our defense can keep them under control pretty easily, but I think AJ is more than capable of hitting some big plays downfield and be able to put up points on that Denver D. It will be low scoring and the Bengals won't be favored, but I really like our chances in that game. The Ravens game should be just like the 49ers game. This is the Ravens though so we can't expect them to lay down for us. But this isn't the end of the world, they'll be fine, Andy might be out for the rest of the regular season, but if we can somehow get the 2 seed, I like our chances in the playoffs against anyone as long as we have Andy.
December 14, 201510 yr McCarron was 22 for 32 for 280 yards 2 tds and 2 interceptions and was getting pressured for most of the throws. So allow him to get all the reps in practice with the starters and also build a game plan around what he does well and they should be fine. Amazing........we need to start a team.
