cshs81
Bases loaded, 2 outs. Batter hits chopper to F5. F5 , instead of simply stepping on 3rd base, runs at the runner coming from F4. Runner gets in a long run down. During the rundown, runner on third crosses home plate. Finally, the runner in the rundown is tagged out. What do you do with the runner that crossed home plate? lucky13
I'll take a stab. You count the run good as the out was a tag, not a force. Had 5 stepped on the bag, before or after other runner crossed plate, run would not count.
HHSDad
Any tag out is a time play. Any runs that cross the plate before the tag go on the scoreboard.
bulldog77
It is a force play no matter how long it takes and results in the end of the inning. The run does not count.

Crossbar
Run should count. Just the same as this: 1 runnerr on base , which is second base. Batter hits a ball hard to outfeild and runner scores. Batter then goes for second and is tagged out after the run was scored. So in that respect I think the run would count.
HHSDad
Any tag out is a time play. Any runs that cross the plate before the tag go on the scoreboard.I'm changing my answer. This isn't a time play, its a force play, run doesn't count. Anytime a runner MUST advance, its a force play. It doesn't matter if you tag the runner or the bag. Now if there had not been a runner at first, it would have been a time play and the run would have scored.
BoxSeat
The runner on 2B was forced to 3B and must reach 3b to take the force away. The run definitely does NOT count.

Statmaster
Doesn't count. Still a force at third.

We assume that a force play deals with "stepping on a base". Any force out that is the 3rd out of the inning negates any and all runs scored. This is a force out because the lead runner HAD to advance. Nice job, BD.
