KHSAA is a joke. This entire thing is a joke. I like A Floyd and his dad is a great guy, but this is a joke if he does play at CCH this year only because a ton of kids have had to sit out a year when they jump to different schools and they don't have the money to fight it in court.

The older I get the less I care about kids transferring. If the kid can benefit from a transfer then so be it, I think we all want was is best for our children. Allow one transfer without penalty but any transfer after that equals inelgible for a season.

I understand limiting transfers and having rules in place. But in the end, who is hurt by this move? Who's to say Cov Cath isn't a better situation for this student athlete? In the end, sports are just a game. Some kids are good enough that sports can pave the way into an education. For others, they are just an activity that can help build life skills, and friendships. Preventing a transfer from playing helps no one. Sometimes I just think we take sports a little too seriously.

Question I have is what if he was transferring to a "public" school. Rules clearly state there would have to be a "residence change" number one, or meet one of the KHSAA requirements that from what appears his family hasn't met.

 

So how is this transfer even considered by the KHSAA. Unless there are circumstances that are not being made public, in which case, this thread should never of been allowed.

The attitude about kids playing sports and transferring always baffles me. If a kid transfers and is academically eligible then let the kid play and be done with it. I love how people get in an uproar when a good player transfers. If it becomes a better situation for the kid then why should any adult stand in the way of a kid playing when his grades allow him to play? Petty.

 

And to the notion that schools that receive transfers shouldn't allow them to play? That is asinine. Unless a kid has issues then I couldn't imagine any coach in the state telling a transfer they can't play on their team. That's unrealistic. :lol2:

Under the current rules coaches and other people talk to players all the time to try and convince them it would be better for them at their place. And that comment is not saying anything wrong happened here. If the rules allowed one free transfer, it would be a recruiting free for all.

And that is my problem with it. Some will do everything they think they should do and be denied eligibility. The lucky ones with connections will be approved.

Maybe. But not all parents have the ability or desire to allow their kid to transfer. Transfering requires parents to either move closer or provide daily transportation ( until at least the kid can drive). Plus there's the tuition aspect. So while you might see a few more transfers, I don't think think it would turn into the Wild West because, quite frankly not everyone can do it. And through all of this, no one has mentioned, that it seems to be completely ok for a non athlete to switch schools. No one seems to get too worked up by that. Again, I think sometimes we take sports a little too seriously. In the end, most are just kids, having fun, and very few are going to be playing in college. And if an elite student can transfer freely with no penalty, to further their chances at getting a scholarship, then why not give the elite athlete the same chance.
