June is considered a voluntary period. He would have to be ruled eligible in order to participate after the dead period.

I have never heard of the voluntary period or any exceptions to participation based on the calendar.

 

I don't think someone can have any contact with a coach of another school that is sports related until they are officially enrolled in that school.

Unless a school is thought to tamper with a student-athlete I can't think of any valid reason for a school to every challenge it. Kid wants to leave he wants to leave. Move on.

My understanding is as long as the student did not leave owing tuition or suspended for disciplinary or academic reasons, Trinity will not "fight" or challenge the transfer. If Trinity signs off then the KHSAA is on board. The KHSAA only gets involved if a school challenges the transfer. On the opposite side, basketballer Darryl Hicks sat out a year after leaving Shelby County at the insistence of Trinity administration. His family was establishing a new address, making sitting out a moot point. Trinity wanted to avoid any appearance of impropriety. Another kid left Trinity after his freshmen year and wanted to come back his junior year. His parents made the mistake of filing the transfer papers prior to establishing a new address and the young man had to sit out as his public school challenged his transfer. He did earn a state ring and graduated his senior year.

I believe the KHSAA gives leeway going from private to public if inability to pay tuition is named as a factor. I am just saying that based on observation. Going from public to private is more difficult because that easy tuition reason doesn't play.

 

As to the last young man you mentioned, based on the details you shared IMO that is pretty low thing for the public contesting him returning to Trinity.

Unless the "rules" have changed in the last couple of years, it makes no difference whether the sending school objects or is fine with the transfer to the receiving school. It's hard enough to have precedence value in the KHSAA's rulings because of varying facts but to deny eligibility because the sending school objected and allow eligibility when the sending school did not object would throw any effort to have precedence out the window.

 

Having said that, the objection or acquiescence of the sending school may have figured into the "athletic intent" issue, which as we know trumps whether one of the exceptions is met.

I think if he has any change of address, even moving next door to his current house, he will be ruled eligible.

 

I think I heard that tdyballgame built him a fine bachelor pad above the current garage and now his address is 1413 A ..........so all is well and happy in "blue heaven" since he officially "moved."
