With him changing his Hudl info and CCH players tweeting about it, his decision has been made. Now if the KHSAA holds true to their rules, then he ain't playin at CCH next year.

 

Personally, it doesn't bother me if he transfers. If a kid hates where he is and there are issues surrounding him, then move on.

 

Have a feeling this school transfer may not happen.

Of course we are speculating. But if there is a divorce and one of the parents is moving then you have to give the benefit of the doubt. However, if it is something crazy like a grandparent or an Aunt nothing else needs to be said, case closed.

The KHSAA is going to need to get some backbone to be taken seriously. They are imho a lame duck organization since they have no real power to enforce the rules for their member schools. Everyone knows how to circumvent the rules to benefit their personal situations and this behavior must be stopped. Everytime someone wants to transfer, they thumb their nose at the KHSAA and retain an attorney if it doesn't go in their favor. In order for the KHSAA to be taken seriously, the courts need to back them on their rules and member schools need to be reminded that they agreed to the terms of the KHSAA when they became members. If CCH had any back bone, they would not allow Floyd to play football at their school. Integrity has been replaced with the win at all cost mentality and it's a sad state of affairs.

I agree with this, however, I think schools welcoming kids with open arms who are coming for athletic reasons should show some integrity and inform them that they are more than welcome to join their student body, but will not be allowed to participate in athletics. It might stop the madness. I say this knowing that this is a pipe dream and will never happen.

Does CCH have a school district? I could see a change of custody working from public school to public school with set boundaries, but I am not sure one can argue that a change in custody demands the need to go to a private school.

Technically, the way the transfer rules are, Floyd (and any other athlete with varsity playing time) is automatically ineligible. The onus is on the Floyds to apply to the KHSAA to be declared eligible. They have to prove why he should be allowed to be eligible and need to use one of the exceptions to prove their case.

 

Also, someone please answer this question - can Floyd participate in workouts before being declared eligible? I forget how the KHSAA treats that. I am thinking he may not be allowed to work out with CCH. Then, if he is declared eligible, he has to go through something like 10 practices with the team before he is allowed to play in a game. I am not sure on this paragraph so hopefully someone else can help out on verifying what is right, wrong, etc.

 

The most similar case to this one that comes to mind for me is when Pouncy transferred from Ludlow to Holy Cross. In that situation, Pouncy missed some games at the start of the season waiting to be declared eligible. I don't recall what the exception was that Pouncy used to become eligible.

No way no how CCH let's this happen unless all T's are crossed and i's dotted. Too risky!

I don't have a dog in the fight and could really care less but I believe if one is practicing with a team he has to be enrolled in the school. And to be clear I was told he was participating in practice from a CCH parent.
