Did Aaron Floyd transfer from Boone County to Covington Catholic?

Featured Replies

I agree 110% and tried to say it without hurting anyone's feelings. He's a great kid and all, but I am with you on what he's capable of doing and what he has done this far.

Feelings? We are talking sports and FOOTBALL. Hope people on BGP's aren't the everyone gets a ribbon type.. Hey besides Aaron will be great this year..after all he's going to CCH which makes him that much better..lol

Could be that he doesn't want to carry a team and that last year he was put in a bad spot because he was the best available athlete on Boone Co. Put in the right spot and surrounded by kids who are ALSO in the right spots, he could make a solid impact. Could also be that he wants to make a change in his environment, academically and socially.

Good luck to young Aaron wherever he goes. I've known the family from afar for a few years and they are quality people.

Nobody is attacking the family. I also know the Floyds, and I hope Aaron does well, as all the kids in our area. But we are talking on the field FOOTBALL production. Not saying he isn't a solid player. But his moving and ability thus far are over hyped. He may have great potential. The key word being potential. Until he lives up to the family name, which is why everybody is going nuts here, he's just another DB. Is honesty disallowed here?

I hope Aaron is happy at Cov Cath and has a successful season.

I agree with Bluesport. As to JA's comment' date=' when did CCH become a college prep school? Here is a link to CCH's home page with their mission and vision statements: Covington Catholic High School: Our Mission Statement There is nothing in those statements about being a college prep school. In fact it clearly states the school is to "energize students to meet the demands of higher education, personal vocations and the challenges of life."

Is it a kid not allowed to move or go play for his family? I didn't know he was under contract at Boone.

I would have to say no other DB in NKY would have did any better last year if they were thrown into the QB spot at Boone last season. Boone was a mess last year. They had key players with season ending injuries. They had a new coach who didn't know his players' ups and downs. You had players quitting during the season for different reasons. It takes a team to compete. I'm not going to knock a kid trying to reach his goals. I know he works very hard all year trying to better himself. I can't wait to see Aaron playing with a sound squad this season. Best of luck to Aaron . I hope Boone's coaches have been able to get everyone on the same page this season and start turning their program around.
Aaron should be a big time D1 recruit, he's fallen into no mans land at Boone. Remember when that happened to Mike Mitchell who is now doing pretty well.

How do you come to that conclusion? I hope he has a monster year and gets to fulfill all his dreams. But as gear the nation has said and I agree with is he hasn't done anything yet to deserve the accolades some have put on him. I think the entire move thing is because someone thinks he is better than he actually is and I only say that because he hasn't shown yet what some claim him to be.

A D1 big time recruit is a stretch right now.

Truth.

The kid is allowed to do whatever is best for him. And the school should be allowed to do what is best for all the kids in their football program. It isn't a one way street all in favor of one kid. There are 50 or so other kids playing football at Boone County too. Let him do what he wants to do and go to CCH. But if I am Boone County, I am not going to help an opponent at the expense of the other 50 players and let him play in the game against Boone County.

There are rules in place regarding transfers. That is what this is all about.

If a student athlete plays a varsity sport and decides to simply go to another school the next year for no other reason than he wants to play for the new school then he/she must sit out a year period. It prevents schools from "Recruiting" players to gain an unfair advantage. Other student athletes had to follow those very same rules which prevented them from playing the year they transferred so why should A Floyd be allowed to play this year for CCH after playing varsity for Boone last year?

There have been a lot of us who have already stated it isn't anyting against A Floyd at all. It does have everything to do with the rules in place. If the rules are wrong then do away with them, but as of now they do exist and should be enforced at every school.

Personal reason or not at the end of the day it is none of our business why he chose to make the decision he did. That's between him and the KHSAA whether or not he gets to play and if he is ruled eligible then they obviously did everything that was needed to do to become eligible and that is all that matters.

Everything else is speculation, accusations and entertaining discussion.

I wish we hadn't started this thread at all, and for the reasons you say. We're prying into business that is not ours. The issue is ~ but not the kid. Too late now.
