I agree with the posters above questioning an educational upgrade at CCH over Boone.

 

One thing I would certainly do if I were Boone County is try to prevent A. Floyd from playing against Boone in the season opener. Slow play the paperwork, get an agreement he won't play in that game before signing paperwork, etc. If there is something I could do, I would do it. I would be ok with him leaving if that is what he wants but I would not want him playing in that game and then rubbing my nose in it.

Restating the second sentence in the second paragraph of my post, Boone County plays Cov Cath in their season opener. If I am Boone Co., I would not want A. Floyd playing for Cov Cath against Boone County in that game.

When we looked at public vs private for my kid, the private schools scored lower in Math. To me, I felt Math was too important to not maximize the learning potential. That's not to say private schools don't also have their advantages. Math just isn't one of them.

I will bite, what does CCH offer that Boone doesn't academically? If it is that much better, that would mean he is behind and would have a lot of catching up to do, playing sports would put a big strain on ever catching up.

I think public to private is more difficult, than the other way around.

Just curious what information source that is from. I have found it difficult to compare Public vs. Private in a balanced way. Private's don't take the required state test and ACT and SAT are difficult to gage based on the percentage at each school that take the test. Ie. 99% of the Private take the test, that % changes depending upon the Public.

I could never agree with this in a billion years. There are reasons why schools are rated, just like teams are. CCH is a college prep school. It is not for everyone.

Never said Boone co was terrible academically. For the most part public perception is that private schools focus more on academics than sports.

My kids go to public school, as did I. So I can't say if it's true. I'm just saying it wouldn't be hard to sell that as a reason for his switching schools.

 

This is an awful lot of hype for an athlete who in my opinion has underperformed in his HS career anyway. I watched him play in pee wee he was great, but since then ? I haven't seen the awesome athlete everyone is talking about. Haven't seen a bunch of super stats or a highlight film to change my mind either. So who cares where he goes. He isn't going to carry a team or he would have last year. Just my opinion .

I agree 110% and tried to say it without hurting anyone's feelings. He's a great kid and all, but I am with you on what he's capable of doing and what he has done this far.

Could be that he doesn't want to carry a team and that last year he was put in a bad spot because he was the best available athlete on Boone Co. Put in the right spot and surrounded by kids who are ALSO in the right spots, he could make a solid impact. Could also be that he wants to make a change in his environment, academically and socially.

Good luck to young Aaron wherever he goes. I've known the family from afar for a few years and they are quality people.

Just think, if things had been done differently at Boone, Thad Moss, Aaron Floyd and a lot of other talented players might still be there. Boone might well be a powerhouse now.

Agree and the parents don't need to send him to CovCath for more exposure. His father likely has plenty of contacts to get him in front of scouts. He will definitely enhance an already pretty good Colonel team coming back. This is not good news for Highlands.

There is nothing in those statements about being a college prep school. In fact it clearly states the school is to "energize students to meet the demands of higher education, personal vocations and the challenges of life."
