I love Jim to death, but some of the things he does makes me really question his common sense. Funny thing is, I truly believe he does things like this because he thinks he is doing something for the player's benefit. He loves those kids to death. I don't think he realizes how the perception of such an act will be to everyone else, or maybe he just don't care.

Agreed. I remember several years back when Taylor Begley was kicking at Boyle County. They would routinely rout teams and Chuck Smith occasionally would let Begley kick on early downs from deep distances. I'm not sure why Johnson Central wouldn't have just lined up on first down (or second or third) somewhere out in the field and given it a shot.

I'm sure he's getting plenty of hate from the parents of his own players.

If I was Boyd County I wouldn't even shook hands with him, I'd took my players straight to the bus.

Because this way he can tell the kicker that he cost his team a touchdown. After all Matney was just trying to help him set a record.

 

No disrespect to JC's kicker, you seem to be a great one. Your coach on the other hand...well, ill leave it at that.

I don't understand this at all. If he wants his kicker to have a shot at a 60 yarder, then just kick it when your offense gets to the 43 or so. Dont keep driving down field just to run backwards.

There's just no excuse. He should be fined by the KHSAA for such a lack of sportsmanship.

What a foolish move. I still remember watching that video of Jude vs Woodford. The poor kid could barely even muster the energy to walk back to the bench after one of his TD runs.

Matney is a chump. Has been for years. He's an embarrassment to the KHSAA and the KHSAA has plenty of more important things to be embarrassed about.

Wait I have been to 3 games against JC and Highlands and I never see him trying to break any records? Oh nevermind...LOL
