It seems to me this put a ton of pressure on the kicker. Leave it alone and wait for the right situation and it sounds like the kid has the ability to nail it. Then the story will be about the player and not the coach.

Yeah having the running back run 30yds back so the kid could attempt the field goal. If I was the Boyd coach I would of pulled my team straight off the field. He did that garbage with JJ Jude also. The KHSAA needs to do something about Matney. The kid is a soph he'll have plenty of chances to break the record legitimately..Classless!!

Matney only continues to prove what everyone knows, he is a jerk. He should be reprimanded for that by KHSAA, isn't there a code of conduct or something like that coaches go by. No respectful coach would tell a kid to do that. Do you ever think someone like Dale Mueller or Coach at Belfry would do something like that.

Matney treats his non-competitive games like a video game set on the easiest level.

In all seriousness though, why not just kick on a down other than fourth? Get the ball where you want it, take a knee and kick there and this isn't the same issue that it is now.
