He did not. I know lots of organizations came together to make that happen. I know Cris was involved and helped leverage his connections. He probably helped financially as well as he is generous man, but he did not write a check for the turf.

I do remember Cris and his wife stepping up and writing a good-sized check to help out with the school a few years ago.

Hahahahaha you serious? Yes he could do it, but not even close. Ask Ruby, Hosea, Farley, Fennells and the countless others I can't think of right off the top my head who wrote checks. They won't say publicly if they did or not because they aren't that boastful. Well, maybe one is. Hahaha.

Because I couldn't and wouldn't use a certain word that you have already warned me about in the past. When athletes "transfer" to highlands for high school, some are persuaded by others to do so, not saying by Dale, but others in the community. It has happened and to say it hasn't is silly. It happens at other schools with open enrollment to, no big deal. I can't blame any school for allowing it if it is within the rules.

 

It's no secret, but when HHS fans act as if it doesn't happen is what becomes funny at times, as if Highlands school district has magic water to transform their kids from age 10 into all state players.

At least one if not both of the True kids went to Turkeyfoot middle school and then enrolled at HHS as Frosh. Perfectly legal and I don't blame them. I'm sure there are a number of kids that legally make arrangements so they can enroll at HHS. If I was a middle school kid I would try to get my parents to. If I had a boy that age I would do it.

 

Does HHS recruit? Sure they do. By putting out an amazing product on the field. When your product is that good people want to be a part of it. Nothing illegal.

So, fair point maybe it was because Highlands had turf and they were nice enough to allow a league that they are not involved with to host some games their, just maybe that was it, but I doubt it.

This is all that needs to be said, why are the NKYFL championships being held at Highlands, when Highlands doesn't have a team in the league? Pretty obvious why isn't it.

Your wrong because you implied after your question that HHS had other motives. Posters answered your question as to why the game was played there - your wrong by suggesting any other motive.

You act as if I accused HHS of cheating or something, the simple question was asked how Highlands could get so many really good players, that was all. You continue to come across so defensive it's as if you are trying to hide something. You make them look guilty by association because of your posts. Lighten up Francis.

Ft. Thomas people are very generous. Is it really that big of surprise to see the Collinsworth's make a generous donation to the Ft. Thomas schools? Many people over the years have stepped up and donated to the "cause." Some are BGP members whom I wouldn't even start naming. . People of the fort donate what they can, money, and services by doing volunteer work. Obviously, the Collinsworth's are in a position to donate more than the average family, well, you know why.

 

Can we get back to the thread topic, and not worry about who is donating where?

As one who lived in Oakbrook when Cooper first opened, I knew of a half a dozen kids who used their Grandparents and or Aunts and Uncles addresses to be able to attend Cooper instead of Boone County.

 

I also knew of kids whose mothers were bus drivers, aides and or worked in the Cafeteria, so their kids could attend the Boone County Board of Education HS of their choice!

 

So while on paper, Boone County Schools are closed (and that is the BC BOE choice and not a mandate by the Commonwealth BOE) people do have a way of getting around the rules in the County of Boone!

 

Total hearsay! When Cooper first opened, a majority of the athletes were trying to stay away from Cooper because of the initial startup in 6A with such a small set of young athletes. So, were these kids you are referring to as using Aunts, Uncles and Grannies addresses doing this to be just in the school for academics or the band? I don't know of any that used fake addresses and played on any of the main sports teams at Cooper and I had a very close relationship with the program.

The door being opened to the NKYFL championship happened as a consequence of the Red Devils not being able to play games at Campbell County High School. With the edition of the middle school teams years back the grass field couldn't take all of the wear. When the Red Devils were informed to find a new home field they were able to secure HHS. I don't think its fair to blame HHS of taking advantage of being able to provide a better surface to play for the pee wee teams at the end of the season, because Mills Rd was usually a mud hole at the end. Dixie, CovCath, Beechwood all had local teams in the NKYFL and could have provided a field for the championship game but choose not too. I do believe it's a tool to showcase your facility but, I think its more a financial purpose than for recruiting.
