Do I think they get transfers from other districts before they start HS? Yes, is that cheating? No do other schools also get transfers? Yes.

You do know someone will take your post to heart, then we can hear them wine about the pros recruiting for HHS.

 

On a more serious note, think about it. Is one player on a high school team as deep and talented as the Birds are, going to really make a difference ? Over 100 players on the varsity roster and 40 to 50 of them having lots of game experience and we are not talking special teams. I don't care if they transfer or get recruited from Mars, they will not make a difference. I thought Dale had "lost it" when I saw the starting QB (McCoy) returning kick offs. Shows you what I know. Dale knew if the injury bug had hit, he knew he had an experienced QB ready to take his place.

 

Over the past 6 years there have been many injuries to star players, some season ending injuries and some that held the players out for several games. Patrick Towles gets a concussion in the Elder game in the first quarter, and McCoy came in to lead the Birds to the victory. Austin Collinsworth sits out several games with a thumb injury , and once again the Birds don't miss a beat. Mr. KY football candidate Josh Conner breaks his leg in the Male preseason scrimmage and sits out the almost half the season, he did play some but was never the same. Once again an experienced player took over and the Birds don't miss a beat. Bardo has a season ending injury in the Cincy X game , Towles takes his place and the Birds don't miss a beat. Brandon Roller has a season ending injury his junior year , Birds win state with a valuable experienced replacement. Are you seeing a trend here. I'm sure there are more examples that I'm forgetting or not know about. I haven't even started on the players that were not 100% and still playing with those injuries. My point is, this Birds team doesn't need tranfers because they have plenty of experienced studs ready to step in. This comes from decades of building a program , and having the coaches with enough knowledge to teach the players what it takes to win on a yearly basis. My bottom line is , HHS doesn't need to recruit, plenty of stud players with plenty of game experience, ready to step in when needed. So , in my opinion, one transfer or recruit doesn't mean squat to a team that is as deep and talented as the Birds.

 

I was a transfer. I went from St. Catherine which is also in Ft. Thomas to Highlands. I played football my Freshman year, but there wasn't anybody screaming "foul". :lol2:: What's up with that? :idunno:

I've not read this entire post, so if its been touched upon, forgive me. I ask this, how many high schools in NKY in the last 14 years has had to forfeit games due to an inelligible player? So don't tell me they don't cheat.... I have first hand knowledge of red devil players being invited into the HHS locker rooms by the varsity head coach. I think strawberryshakeman said in an earlier post that hhs's descision was for financial reasons to host youth football games. Maybe, but they absolutely did it for their own selfish reason to get these other out of distrct football players running to HHS. Are they wrong for that? He'll no, but once you start taking those kids into the locker room, now you are recruiting them, no other way sugar it, sorry.

 

The sad part for the rest of the NKY teams, HHS doesn't have to recruit, kids will come regardless.

The transfer stuff kills me! They are deep and deep in tradition otherwise studs would transfer out. For example, Hayes would have 20+ carries with any other program in nky! He shares time and is the change of pace back Wow! 75 hit nail on the head. Next player in... Some good talent buried in depth chart. Kids don't even complain - two platoon wait for their chance.

Well hello! Welcome to the party. I couldn't believe we went this long on a HHS thread without hearing from you! You post in the HHS threads as much as I do! I think you really are in love with the program...it's okay...we'll keep it our own little secret.

 

Now to the above. Really? NO, REALLY? C'mon. I don't know all the details about the suspension and my guess is you don't either. But I do know that they wouldn't have played him if they didn't feel it was all legit. When things didn't align correctly, he was ruled ineligible and didn't play in state. So thanks for proving one poster's points...that he wasn't needed because they did win state that year and someone else stepped up and they didn't miss a beat. I knew you loved us. You just take a round about way to showing it!

 

As for hosting the game for the young teams...don't you think if there was some "master plan" to pull kids into the program 1) they wouldn't have charged them for the field, they would have made it easy to attract the game and donated it and 2) Wouldn't they offer to host it every year (for free)?

 

As far as "inviting Red Devil kids into the locker room"...have you ever been in there?? It's not like going to the new bball facility at UK. It is old and nasty! Not something that would "lure" a player to HHS! And do you realize how many kids are in the Red Devils system that either live in Ft Thomas or planned to attend HHS even before signing up or playing 1 down of football for the red devils. So inviting kids that are already planning on going to HHS into the locker room on occasion is not a "luring" tool, it's the kids that want to see it and feel it and Dale is nice enough to let it happen. Young players look up to the HHS kids as almost celebrities. HHS allows them to get up close with the current players. Not a thing wrong with that. I bet every high school program, including yours, does the same things and in more than just football. I hear discussions for competing kids when it comes to whether a kid goes to Brossart or NCC (no not for football, but what's the difference). I could care less.

 

And here's the best of them all. Everyone wants to insinuate there is someting "fishy" going on at HHS. They all make statements and then follow up with "I didn't say they are breaking any rules" and "we actually respect the HHS program!" Garbage! Don't you think that programs like HHS and Trinity are constantly under the microscope? Don't you think that if anyone had anything on them, they'd take them down right now! HHS does everything by the book. I coach there. We are instructed to constantly stay on our toes and recognize things that may seem fishy and report anything right away. We are told to not for one second, stray from any rules. Not to discuss HHS opportunities with any out of district kids. If a parent requests info, they are immediately directed to the principal to discuss the education and all extracuricular activities and that's what happens. We are trained to treat any conversation as if you were speaking to a KHSAA official. And we do all of that because we know that if someone could take us down, they would in a hearbeat. You haters kill me! But it's fun reading all the nonsense that comes out of your mouths! Oh yea...and everyone has "first hand information". No they don't! Because if they did, based in this first hand info, HHS would be on suspension every year!!!!

I just don't think teams need to play Highlands. Why play them if you don't need to?

 

Some on here have tried to say that Highlands would better prepare your team for the playoffs. I don't get that. Teams schools play are usually teams that will help them get prepared.

 

Also if you are a school and play Highlands and get beat 74-0, how exactly is that preparing your team for down the road? If anything I think it would demoralize the team and crush the confidence they may have had.

No, maybe some are more paranoid than others and think that is the case. They aren't under any more of a microscope than anyone else.

My assertions deal with being able to communicate freely within the rules here, not specific student athlete issues at HHS. Reread my posts carefully please.

Would Cooper, Conner, SK, Boone, Ryle all get beat 74-0. Don't think so. The reason to play HHS is to give your kids something to strive for. To benchmark your program. (Call it arrogance, but you can insert any top program and I would say it if I was a Silver Grove fan!). That's the way I believe. If you have programs in your area that would not just challenge you but push your program to it's limits and help all the kids in the program see what it's like to see that kind of team speed, talent and dedication, why would you not take advantage of it? IMO, it will only help in the long run. Heck, some of those teams don't play HHS or Cov Cath. I'll say it again, if I was a 5 or 6A football coach in NKY and had any aspirations of creating a winning program, those two schools would be the first teams I called. If there are kids in programs that would take a 35-7 or 42-14 loss as demoralizng instead of striving to get to that level, then that program has more issues than just trying to win competitive football games. Any athlete that considers himself competitive should want to step up their game and dedication to a program after seeing any program, player, talent level that is above them. Again, insert any top program name you want.

Really? Maybe not you, but there are several folks that put a lot of time and effort worrying about HHS football and would turn them in any chance they had to take them down. I see it first hand as a coach. Rediculous statements and perceptions that have no facts and never end up with anything. Heck, look at NKYfootball91! Same with Trinity. Yes, all schools follow the same rules and are governed by the KHSAA the same way, but if you don't think KHSAA doesn't receive more factless calls about HHS and Trinity football than many other programs in the state, you are naive. Just about everyone outside HHS has their perceptions on how HHS stays successful. Heck you see it on here all the time. If someone had something on HHS, it would have been turned in a long time ago. Heck, even within our own program! You don't think there hasn't been extremely angry parents whose kids didn't get the playing time they expected and was unhappy with the program? It happens at every school and every sport. Those parents would be close enough to know if anything "fishy" was going on and would turn them in anonymously if they had a chance once their kid was gone! Guess what, they have nothing because they are so by the book, that you can't get anything on them. I don't expect people to understand that or believe it, but that is inside info. They place a lot of time and effort to keep the program clean! They work just as hard at that as they do in the off season...which is truly where all their success comes from...contrary to what many believe. I would invite any of you to walk up to the school any time other than dead period and see the kids working out. Because I guarantee you the kids are there somewhere and working their tales off. This is really why HHS supporters get so defensive. Because we know how hard the kids work to be the best and everyone wants to take that away from them by insinuating funny business or that HHS is stretching the rules to create an advantage. Again, just one day, take a walk around the school and you'll have your questions answered!
