Had lunch at Pleasant Ridge Chili today. Hadn't been there in 15 years. Good chili. Cheese gravy fries are excellent.

There's a new Cancun Mexican restaurant in the Newport Shopping Center.

 

Just for kicks I walked in yesterday to take a look at the place and was pleasantly surprised at how huge and fantastically decorated the place is with brand spanking new very cool furniture and booths.

 

The sharply dressed staff was extremely friendly, and I wished them good luck with the place.

 

The wonderful smell of the place instantly triggered my hunger where I opted to carry out a few beefy crunchy tacos that they had in my hand merely two minutes after ordering them which also came with a bag of chips and salsa all for $6 after tax.

 

To my delight they were amazingly delicious!

 

The manager while thanking me, jokingly said "See you again tomorrow" which made me laugh thinking "Well I wouldn't go that far", but truthfully I can't get my mind off of what I had, and am seriously considering another visit there today.

 

In the neighboring strip mall is the ever popular Rio Grande, which has me wondering if Cancun will catch on, but in comparison the new place is strikingly more interesting and polished than the more dimly lit mostly drab Rio Grande. The prices seem comparable, so I think one trip to Cancun will make believers of many.

 

I'm not pushing for RG's demise, as they offer great food and are big time on top of things at serving a never ending flow of traffic coming and going, but I could seriously visualize Cancun at becoming a very hopping place, and they certainly have the space to cater to the multitudes.

 

No joke, my stomach is seriously beginning to growl as I write this review.

I'm anxious to try more on the menu, but need to be conscious not to gain 50 pounds over then next couple of months by turning into a junkie for the place.

Had this last night and I wanted more. Luckily I could only eat half of it so I had another half for the games today. Extra quick service.

Wife grew up right down the road from there. She introduced me to the gravy cheese fries when we started dating. Never had something that sounded so gross but tasted so dang good.

I grew up right behind Pleasant Ridge Chili! At midnight after Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, I would sneak out of the house, jump the fence and run over and break my fast with at least 3 cheese coneys!

I wouldn't call it a hidden gem, but we ate Jack Binion's steak house at the Horseshoe Cincy last night and it was awesome.

I tried to go there Saturday but they were closed due to a private event. I'll definitely hit it up.

 

Ended up going to Kruger's Tavern. Had the Cuban which was really good. Hot beer cheese was a little overrated. My wife had their burger and liked it. Nice place.

I've been to Krueggers twice now, freaking loved it both times. Cool place, and food was incredible.

Wife and I go there about twice a month on average. Their spicy burger is delicious. Really like the beer cheese, and their John Daly drink is outstanding. Could drink that all day with no trouble...until it was time to stand up. :lol2:
