How long before the leftys....

Guns were not invented for the purpose of skeet shooting, no more than a bow and arrow were invented solely for bulls-eyes. Please stop. There's better ways of making the argument than trying this one.
Cocaine was invented as an anesthetic. Viagra was invented to treat angina. Duct Tape (originally Duck Tape) was invented for the millitary application of keeping ammo cans sealed and waterproof.

Not everything is limited to only one use. Again, broad brush.

Invented????? What in God's name does that have to do with the different ways people want to use them? Knives were also invented to kill. So were bats(clubs). Fact remains that there are many people who want to use them in ways that have nothing to do with killing.

Some items evolve into a more noble or specialized purpose, or become obsolete in the wake of technological advances (the current tactical weapons are several generations advanced beyond the sword, which is why fencing or display/collecting is the chief application of its variations nowadays). The facts remain that guns still, as a whole, are designed to kill or maim humans and other animals. The rest is a sideshow.

If you're capable of stepping back and looking at the whole picture logically, you'd see that. But most of you are too emotionally invested ("They're gonna come take away my guns!!!!!") to be able to do so. Keep in mind, when painting with a broad brush, that I, too, am a gun owner, and many others you would misguidedly paint as "leftys" because we don't walk some ideologically rigid line are as well.

Buzzz. Wrong again. I don't own guns, in fact I'm very nervous around them. I'm just evolved enough to see that there are many many people who do own them for no other reason than to participate in sports that have nothing ever to do with killing. You seem incapable of making that connection due to your misguidedly painting the "rightys" with a broad brush.

As I said, that other stuff is a sideshow. The main purpose for the invention of guns is to find a more efficient way to kill people or animals.

You've gone in a circle. Tends to happen when your argument is discredited.

That's not quite how it works. No one has "discredited" the fact that the origin of guns comes from a desire to kill or maim more efficiently on the battlefield. They've just disagreed, which means they are willfully ignorant of history. Guns weren't invented for the purpose of target/skeet shooting.

You conveniently dismiss that guns are used more to protect and for sport then to kill. Did you buy a gun to kill? I know I didn't. My guns have never killed anyone. The vast majority of guns out there haven't been used to kill anyone. Now, if you hunt, different story, but their intended use is not to kill or maim people. That particular intended use is solely for military and criminals. So, the way I view it, the vast majority of guns are not to kill or maim.

You made the claim that guns have only one purpose. You were shown the error in your statement and it quickly turned to "what guns were invented for". Again, the flaw in your logic was pointed out and you circled back to the main purpose for guns invention. The only correct thing you've said is what guns were originally invented for. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter what they were invented for. Not only did we disagree with you but we showed the flaw in your logic and discredited it. Whether you choose to see it or not is up to you. But the fact remains that you are wrong.
