March 27, 201313 yr Which course is your favorite in Mason Co?? Not a lot to choose from. I like the Maysville Country Club best but I'm not a member. I usually play at Laurel Oaks with a group of guys from my (Odd Fellows) lodge. Used to play a lot at Kenton Station but it's an ego course - driver and wedge. As far as courses close by, Hilltop at Manchester (Ohio) is my favorite; the 9-holer over in Flemingsburg is decent as well.
March 27, 201313 yr Never been Jah. My son and I both applied on line and I got it. I have been to the Memorial twice in Dublin and PGA once at Valhalla, both were awesome, I can't wait to compare. I have played Doral Blue Monster and TPC Scottsdale, and stood on the 18th greens at Pebble and Harbortown. Doral ate my lunch, the rough was brutal and unfortunately I was in there a lot, could only chip it to the fairway. TPC Scottsdale was not as difficult, in fact, very playable for a 15 hdc. This will be a day to remember I'm sure. Think I will walk the whole course then watch some skimming of balls across the lake at 16, and finish with some of the Par 3 tourney. Gonna get the Pimento and cheese and probably spend a weeks wages on souvenirs

March 27, 201313 yr Dick's in Huntington has Srixon Z-Stars for 26/doz. They're my faves. Bought 4 doz. Pretty solid deal. Also had the R11S for 199. Didn't buy it, but thought it was a pretty good deal.

I played it last fall and it was much better maintained than the other public courses, and cheaper! I'm a member at Laurel Oaks, namely because, like you said, Kenton Station is so short. We should organize a BGP golf outing here soon!

April 2, 201313 yr It was 81 here in Destin today. 2nd day on the course, much better knowing how this thing lays, where not to be and where to be. Ran out of gas but still managed 83. Course here at Seascape is in really solid shape. The rough is thick but not too tall. Greens relatively quick. Wind has been steady and that's my biggest challenge. Still not one with the old Titleist driver yet. HOWEVER, I bought the Tour Spoon RBZ 3wood. That thing is outstanding. 240 consistently off the tee for me and right down the chute. If you are in the market for a 3, I'd highly recommend anyone giving this one a look. Beat the youngest today by 5, he beat me yesterday by 4. So, technically I'm 1 up.

I lived in Maysville for a couple years and Hilltop was always my favorite. White Oak is a great course if you're willing to make the drive...

It's free and great for finding discounted rates for various courses in your area. I figured I'd make sure everyone on here knew about it so you can save some money the next time your hitting the greens maybe.
April 3, 201313 yr Got out yesterday at Wild Turkey Trace in Lawrenceburg, my "home" course. Sun was out but was only about 50 deg when I started about 5:20 or so, got cooler as it went on, cool wind blowing as well, probably steady 10-12 mph. Course is still in winter like condition, fairways have yet to come in (burmuda), greens shaggy and slow, rough was thick but mowed down to a managable condition, typical conditions for this time of year with the weather still cool and lots of rain. Played 9 holes, shot a 45...I'll take it with the conditions and only having gotten out to play a couple of times so far because of the weather. Actually hit a handfull of nice short iron approach shots, couple of knock down shots into the wind. Missed two makeable par putts so score could have easily been a 43. Supposed to be nice this weekend, so hopefully I will be out somewhere playing Saturday...where ever Golfnow takes me...haha.
