Didn't take him long to fine a controversial case, and be on the questionable side.

 

This past summer an armed 16 year old got into a scuffle with a police office and pulled a gun on the officer, the officer had to shoot the teen, he ended up dying shortly after.

 

Now Deters has filed a suit against the officer stating that the officer took the gun away from the teen and shot and killed the teen, then laid the teens gun next to him.

 

Question #1: Who seeked who in this case? He had a previous case or two where he seeked out a client, which is a reason he was barred for a while.

Question #2: How long until Deters gets banned for life from practicing law?

Not to defend him, but the family of the young man who was shot, did say when this happened that they would be filing civil suite against CPD and the officer if I remember correctly.

It's not uncommon for the police officer and agency to be sued after an officer shoots someone.

^ agreed, but it's who took the case, and how did he get/find it. As he will be watched closer now on how he gets some of these cases.

How is that any different from the litany of lawyers dying to represent us in any number of potential case situations? Technically, The Heavy Hitter is seeking out clients with his ads.

Yes, but ads are a lot different than learning about an accident and calling the family before they contact you, it's an ethics violation, one that got him suspended. He called a Mr Clise when his son was in the hospital who was involved in a school bus accident when the kid was in the hospital. Deters was representing Mrs Clise at the time.

A friend of mine witnessed the event, and this accusation is blatantly false.
