nWo
Looks like the beginning of February we could be seeing a return of winter to the Bluegrass area. The GFS is showing a system coming through late Thursday afternoon into Friday morning that could produce some accumulating snow. The precipitation may begin as rain before it shifts over to all snow. The system looks to be exiting eastern Kentucky by Friday afternoon. Here is the simulated radar showing the possible wintry precipitation. Both the Canadian and GFS models are showing snow accumulations for the time period I mentioned but they differ on the amounts. GFS Canadian As we get closer to Thursday I will be fine tuning the outlook. Now don't take this totals as a forecast because things will probably change between now and Thursday. nWo
Sunday morning update The chance for accumulating snow to end the week seems to be growing. Both the GFS and Canadian models are showing snow for Kentucky starting Thursday evening and continuing until Friday evening before exiting eastern Kentucky. The difference between the models is the amount of accumulations and who will get the most. The GFS shows most of the snow falling south and east of a line from about Bowling Green to Maysville. While WKY may only get a dusting. Here is the simulated radar from 7 pm Thursday till 1 pm ET Friday. The Canadian is more robust with the snow. It shows most of Kentucky getting heavy accumulations while EKY being spared. It also is showing WKY may receive some accumulations of freezing rain. This is the simulated radar from the Canadian We'll have to wait and see which one is correct. Oh, by the way, there seems to be another system poised to pass through Kentucky Sunday into Monday that could bring some even more accumulating snow. :thumb:

ukcatfan17
Is the system you are calling for on Friday the same system you spoke of in another post....or is that one still out there for mid-February?
nWo
Is the system you are calling for on Friday the same system you spoke of in another post....or is that one still out there for mid-February? No, it isn't. There appear to be at least a couple more shots at accumulating snow in February.

nWo
It’s crazy how the models can be so different. Thanks for the updates. They will go up and down with snow amounts until we get through the next couple of days. Not saying it is correct but the Canadian has been the most consistant for now. Jumper_Dad
Latest indexes all have less snow for me than the earlier ones...which is fine with me. @nWo When do you think you will have a good feel for what's headed our way (snow wise) for this coming Thurs-Sunday?
