  1. Ooops, I think the the Danville kid went to UK the following year, in '78. It's hard to remember because of all of the head shots I took from Venus Meaux when I used to run around the end and there he was, just waiting, with a grin on his face every day in practice.:laugh:
  2. Hatz, Didn't you play against Meaux and Parks from Harrodsburg and the big stud from Danville (can't remember his name) in 1976? These three backs were awesome players and all went to UK on scholarships in 1977.
  3. No Henry Clay this year?
  4. That's bull. I admit Ronnie was a good coach and I know Ronnie very well. Personally, I would be OK with him as the coach right now, but he isn't due to some behind-the-scene things that continuously went on. Ronnie walked into a very good situation with having Brain Staed as his center his first 2 years. This kid was big and stood 6' 9"-6'10". Everyone had a hard time stopping him in the 12th region. Then Boyle got 2 transfers from Danville that was very productive. Spencer Perrin was a very good player that is now signed with EKU and Christian Williams was a three point threat at anytime. These three players would allow any 12th region team to be a contender for the championship. Then Ronnie was let go. Currently, we don't have any players of this caliber. Aumiller was going to be, but with his injured shoulder, he hasn't been all year. Plus, Boyle doesn't have anyone this year that can shoot the 3 consistently like past Bolye teams. That said, let the current coach develop his players that he has now and in the future. And maybe, one of them will grow to be a 7 footer or a transfer or two will come into the program the next few years. :notworthy::notworthy:
  5. Did Jordan play any at all against Danville? I was on the way home and realized that I didn't think I saw Jordan out there. If he was, it wasn't very long. I agree with you about more playing time since he played well the night before.
  6. First of all, I liked Ronnie Bottoms as coach of Boyle County. I also like the present coach that we have. The one difference that Ronnie had in his few years as the coach that the present coach does not have is, a 6' 9" - 6'10" player that no team could handle in Ronnie's first year or so and there is no transfers ( that are as good as Perrin, especially Perrin, and Williams) on this year team like Ronnie had in his last two years. I'm sure Ronnie would agree that these three players made a huge impact at Boyle.
  7. Yes, they beat Boyle 2 other times, however Boyle beat them in a tournament at Boyle Co in November and beat them at the Mercer Co. tournament during Christmas break. All five games were very close, as well as the 7th grade championship the year before.
  8. The 3rd quarter was definitely the best they played all year. Hats off to Micah Satterly. His around game has really improved this year. In fact, I've watch him improve each of the last ten years. Ever since he started playing with a lot of the Perryville boys back in '99 even though he went to Woodlawn Elem. I knew when he played at the KSD gym that he would become a very good player. If he continues to play like he's been playing, this team is going to be really good. Another thing I think is necessary for this team to be very successful is for Zak Hester to play like he did during the Garrard game. It seems like everytime he plays aggresive and scores, the rest of the team plays better. They seem to feed off of him even though he doesn't have to score a lot of points. We seen this alot last year. On to E. Jess and Mercer. :ylsuper:
  9. What school district did he come from?
  10. Your clarification is right on the money. :thumb:
  11. Do you remember their scorekeeper that was sitting next to us last year at the Mercer Co. tourney. He said his son was the only one that was 13 years old on the team. The other 6 kids were either 15 or close to being 15. Last year these kids could have been young sophomores or older freshmen players. I admit they were one of the best 8th grade team that I saw last year, but they should have been because of their age. I think when the current Boyle County freshmen team becomes Junior and Seniors they will be a "force to reckon with" and will be able to compete with them. This team has really improved since last year and will only get better after playing more games.:dancingpa :ylsuper::ylsuper:
  12. Senior. He has a sister in your son's class. She a real good soccer player.
  13. I remember back when Chuck Smith came to Boyle Co, he revised the schedule so they would be assured of games that they could win. These wins generated momentum for a school that was down. They started winning and he added back some of the teams he dropped and a few other real good teams. The rest is history. Maybe Bourbon can revise there schedule and play weaker teams and then build on the success much like Chuck Smith did. :dancingpa
  14. I'm not seeing much from the Mercer Co. fans. There was a time when they were all over BGP. What is there record this year?
  15. 1. Lexington Christian 2. Boyle County 3. Highlands 4. Breathitt County 5. Franklin-Simpson
  16. One dollar !! No Hollar !!!!!!!!! Go Rebels
  17. Game 1 - Hazard Game 2 - Mayfield Game 3 - Bishop Chatard Game 4 - Louisville Central Game 5 - Johnson Central
  18. Jason Dunn from Harrodsburg was still playing TE with the Chiefs last year. I'm not sure if he is still there or not. He may have retired. He's been in the NFL for over 10 years and had a very solid career for a small town kid.
  19. Wow. That's impressive. No wonder they do extremely well every year. ;)
  20. There are many teams that do this every year and Boyle is one of them. It has never been an issue before and I doubt it will be now.
  21. As I said yesterday, I almost certain that Boone is practicing with Boyle. I've been hearing from our neighbor's kid, which is a freshmen player, that Boone has been looking real good in practice.
  22. I heard he's been practicing with the team this week.
  23. We don't need a mini BCS for the high school ranks.
  24. I don't think so. His dad, Wilbur palyed for Garrad County back in the late 70's and was a tremendous player. He went on to play for K-state where he got his degree. I saw his son play in middle school and last year as a freshman. I think he will really make an impact for the Ads.
  25. In yesterday's Advocate-Messenger, Larry Vaught had an article on another potential tight end that KY might get. He was really impressesed, as was Rich Brooks, at the camp on Saturday. Brooks offered him a scholarship on the spot. I believe the article said that this kid was virtually unknown by UK. He's 6'6 and supposed to be a really tremendous athlete. Sorry I don't have his name or a link to the article, The impression I got from the article was that he may even be better than Aumiller. Wouldn't that be great, 2 Jacob Tammes. Does anyone have any more info on this kid?
