Any body out there know anything about an upheavel of sorts within the Bourbon County coaching staff? Heard yesterday that BoCo is looking for assistant coaches at the high school level "immediately."

 

 

 

Sorry, but that's not true. Once again, as in most cases, you have a few parents out there who are trying to stare up trouble and blame this coaching staff for Bourbon's problems. If they didn't let Dudley Hilton go, then things might have been different today. But to blame Massie and his staff, that's wrong! When he took over two years ago, Bourbon had the worst football program in the state and they weren't that much better last season. This program hit rock bottom and to get back on top, it's going to be a long climb up the hill. They have to give the man time and a lot of it!

I kinda disagree with you. If this was the college level I would be on board with your statement. But not at the high school level. A good offseason in the weight room and a good preseason of long practices. One might be suprised at the outcome. Just look at the year that Dudley showed up. That group of kids liteally couldnt get in a correct football stance at camp. We all know the rest of the story.

This is a very true statement. :thumb:

They did have a weight program this past off season and it showed with a lot of the kids but if you don't have it, you just don't have it. Bourbon's problems started way before Massie just as the case at Paris. Everybody needs an scapegoat and the current coaches at both schools have been tag. Tell me something ... everyone keep saying program ... when has Bourbon ever really had a football program? Winning one state championship doesn't mean you have a program.

And that's very true ... but Hilton had a lot more to work with than Massie and Bourbon's program wasn't as bad then as it was when Massie took over. Gruenisen didn't leave the cup bare with he departed and a few extra players on that team also helped.

Well, is Massie the reason Bourbon has only 14 winning seasons in 47 years of playing football? And five of those seasons came back in the 60's when they got started and the other five came from 1997 through 2002. This is all I'm saying on this matter ... you guys can have at it!

I played there under Wilson Sears and John Nochta during the Mid to late 80's and we had winning seasons 86,87,88 6-5 8-3 7-4

I did hear that several players had quit the team this past week. Don't know any details. Has anybody heard anything.

I read a letter in today's Paris newspaper, and the person writing the letter called the coach out, pretty much, and said that the coaches argue amongst each other on the sideline, and wants the school to do something about it.

Heard the same thing; that most of the upper-classman, experienced line quite, and that now mostly fresh/soph. are playing.

If kid quits in week 5, that tells me the problem right there, and it is not coaching. You either want to play or you dont.

I have very little knowledge as to what is going on at Bourbon County. But the one thing I know for sure, Dudley Hilton is gone. So get over the Hilton days.

 

What needs to occur at Bourbon is the Adminstration, Players, Coaches, Parents, and fans need to decide if the want a program or if they want a team. If you want a football program that doesn't occur in one year. It takes several years. You have to make up grades to the program to attrack kids to come and play.

 

But most important everyone has to buy into what the HEAD COACH is doing. If you don't have that backing, then you have nothing.

I think BCHS is lucky to even have a football coach.

I also think that the reason parents are upset is that they are disappointed in the hirings. (but refer back to first sentence)

I don't know Massie personally, so I can't really say... He was at Paris, didn't get hired as the HC there so he left and went to BCHS. I do know that he was the Middle School Head Coach, and didn't coach but made more then the guys that were coaching and caused Paris to loose their Middle School coach that was well respected. (Paris' fault not Massie's)...

 

As far as past programs at BCHS, i.e. they beat Paris the year they were state runner-up.

BCHS has also had many great hard nosed football players.

BCMS at one time had a great middle school program going.

The early 80's they had some real talent.

I know the kids have to put out on their end too. But there has to be a good chemistry with the kids/players/parents/alumni,etc... Not just one or the other.

 

My personal input is that in Paris/Bourbon County not everyone is into football like it used to be. I went to a few Paris homegames this year, and the crowd seems smaller. I saw no parents cheering in the stands. I wanted to go to the BCHS/HCHS game didn't make it so don't know what it looks like up there?

They did just like Paris but you cannot make the kids come! It's up to the kids.
