I couldn't tell you anything about any of the kids there. I couldn't tell you who even coached them in middle school. But a school as big as BCHS and your typical "big ole strong farm boys" I am having a hard time with this knowing the size of guys I remember that played at BCHS... and now that these big ole farm boys aren't coming out anymore... Why? And I think that is a legit question.

I'm not going to place all blame on the coaches on here, but it makes me question their PR ability and chemistry they have or don't have with these kids. That is legit to think that too. Or is a combination of both; that and that kids just aren't into it like they used to be, or do they not like playing for that coach or are they emabressed getting stomped every game of the year? However yes if you love the game you play regardless, but you would have to see why different ones up there at The Hill are upset.

Just the whole thing has confused me since this was supposed to be their breakout year, and now people in town are talking about upperclassmen quitting, got kicked off (whatever really happened) - What happened? Why the blowup all of a sudden?

A very small portion of this incident was because of kids. This is mostly because of mamma bear and pappa bear trying to defend their cub after he has done something wrong. I was told that 2 kids were kicked off team beacuse of said helmet throwing and showing disrepect toward coaches. Kids were told they were welcome back on team if they made an apology to the team and coaches.

I graduated in 88 but I guess I was a freshman for Sears last year then played for Nochta 85, 86 , 87. Must I dust off my year books to confirm or records for those years? We did have a winning season in 86....

I cannot believe they are letting the kids come back after what they did. What does that say to your coach and his staff ... the kids can do what they like, lets just keep some mad parents happy? If it was my program the kids would not be welcome back ... period! I cannot believe the school system is letting them back on the team. Wow! :confused: What happens if someone else on the team does it? Maybe Massie does need to leave because obviously he is not in charge of his program ... only the school system and the parents!

and said they saw this on the news!?!?!

The coach had police escorts to and from practice???

He's a big strong guy, why would he need police escorts?

Was his life being threatened or something?

What would happen if that happened in school to a teacher, would the school board be ok with that. They took all the authority and discipline away from Coach Massey who is trying to rebuild a program.

You should be done when you throw your helmet or curse your coach, but in Bourbon that depends on the board members and the parents.

I think there are more getting away with it then we realize, just not at BCHS.

I do see improvement at BCHS... However I still think you can stick a fork in him.:eek:

If any Head Coach allows that sorta problems and then allows the kids to come back on the team. As others have said, you're only sending a strong signal to the rest of the team, that type of behavior is o.k. and will not be dealt with by dismisal from the team.

When a program lacks discipline it will also lack integrity. Which are both very vital to being able to have control of your players and good work ethic.

All he did was told the kids to run off the field and they got mad and kept walking and then Massie said to hurry up and then as any coach would ... got on them for showing no respect and that's when it all started! What the school system is doing by telling Coach Massie to put them back on the team if they wanna come back is a joke!
