Ram Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 What does Boyle County need to do to improve in 2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Commander 25 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Boyle will be right there contending with Bell, Lexington Cath, Rockcastle and Knox Central going to the state finals.
BEChargers Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Replace their secondary and find some receivers. No small task but if they do that and they will be very, very good !!
Leonidas Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Replace their secondary and find some receivers. No small task but if they do that and they will be very, very good !! I will add they lost some pretty good OL and DL as well. They will be right their with the rest in the top. With Dawson and Aumiller on defense and Mcshara (sp) on offense they have a nucleus of a good team.
PurplePride92 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I think the main thing we need to replace is receivers. If our receivers can step up and produce the way we did last year, then we will be fine. I have heard that some new faces, such as Logan Tritapoe and Conner Gihvan will be out next year and I heard that Logan will be a receiver. Conner would probably make a good receiver as well. I think Brian Ferrell played some receiver in JV games last year and I know Jarrod Harrington started at receiver for the JV team also. I think we'll be fine in the secondary and on the OL/DL. One thing I noticed watching the JV games, in which we did very very well in the JV games last year by the way, was that you were not going to pass the ball on our secondary. I don't say that meaning that our secondary will still dominate at the varsity level, but I say that meaning that they will capitalize on mistakes and have the ability to take your mistakes to the house. Lamar Dawson, Paul Megilligan and Grant Aumiller are returning starters on defense who excelled last year. Add in Chris Cook and Brian Ferrell to the linebackers and I have no problem whatsoever in saying that our linebackers will be the hardest hitting linebackers in 4A. If Rees Macshara is not mentioned in the hunt for Mr. Football then something is wrong somewhere. He was one of the best RB's in all of KY high school last year as a junior and provided he stays healthy I think the state will be hard pressed to find many of if any that are better than Rees. Period. I also expect Devin Cox, to provide depth at RB, along with Chris Cook. Can anyone verify if Dre Cox is playing this year? If he comes back, that will be even more depth. He was ahead of Rees at RB before he quit during their sophomore year, so that would bring even more talent to the team. I'll be honest in saying that I expect this to be a very successful season this year. The sting of the Bell County loss will provide motivation and the fact that the State semi's would be held on our home field this year will add extra motivation to build even more off of last year. I wish nothing but the best for the Rebels and I will be at every game, home or away, and look forward not only to the upcoming season, but the spring game tomorrow evening. Let's go Rebels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's get this French class underway!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finish the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jude Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Good question Kypride? I guess he will be a senior? I was really upset that things didn't work out for him at Lawrence County.:idunno:
BEChargers Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 As of right now. Boone Goldsmith is the QB and Dre. Cox is practicing this spring and looks good.
PurplePride92 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Sweet. I can't wait until the season starts.
PurplePride92 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 I thought our defense looked really good, as usual. I am amazed at the number of kids that are out on the field. To have that number of kids playing with spring sports going on is impressive. I am definitely encouraged and looking forward to the season. I was wondering how they split the teams up. I think it's funny that Rees can't score on our defense and it wasn't even a full defense. Jarrod Harrington is going to make a great receiver/corner as he continues to grow and develop. Yeah, I like everything I saw today about our team. Good times are coming this fall.....
Commander 25 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Very solid, hard hitting football tonight! What did they have going on tonight intersquad scrimmage?
PurplePride92 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Yep. Black vs. white. Can you tell we are ready for some football?
Rebel Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 What about the schedule for next year, has it been released. Herd talk last year that Boyle and Danville will both play in each others bowl game to kick off the first 2 weeks of the season. Than play each other. Not much traveling to start the season if so.
