Can't imagine Szabo wouldn't prefer Spalding to touch the ball on every possession. If he's doubled, he can kick out for the open three.

If point guard scores 23 then I wonder how much of the offense runs through Spalding. Typically, Szabo tries to get his better interior players touches if the offense is run the way he wants.

Actually was a tie game with about 4 to go. It would have been very interesting to see what would have happened if Spalding played the second half. Ballard played a little looser on both offense and defense after he went out at half.

LC has to be one of the toughest places to play. Always seems that you are playing 5 on 8 when you play Catholic at home.

Sounding like a broken record from the last ten years, T will have to slow down the game and take care of the ball keeping the turnovers less than 15 IMO. That being said, they have only been able to get past Ballard (when it counted for something) three times in the last ten years that I can recall including last year in the LIT and with a state championship team in 2012 in the regional and the 2010 team which was ranked #1 most of the season in the LIT so I have to think Ballard is the clear favorite in this one.

IMO Madison Central was probably as good although they were down 17 in the 3rd quarter and had to claw back for the win so I would say Ballard had something to do with that with their mistakes and poor decisions at the end. Being very knowledgeable about the 2010 season, I think Ballard was clearly the better team but had to play three top ten teams to make the final game while SV only played one top 20 team, as I recall, so I think the Ballard team had no legs for the finals. If that game is played with both teams in a similar situation from the rest standpoint, Ballard wins 8/10 times IMO. And for the SV fans, this is just my opinion and I'm not trying to demean the accomplishments of the SV squad.

These regular season games mean virtually nothing except to illustrate that there is no dominant team this year in 6A. The way I see it, the team that improves the most over the next 3-4 weeks among the four super-district teams will be the favorite to win the state. (no disrespect to SK intended). Could be T, X, Male or Manual Should be a competitive playoffs in rounds 2,3 and will be much more wide open than in the past three years. That being said, I'm betting on Beatty when it comes to crunch time!

I still go with T Let's assume that BG has superior talent. They would still have to do it on the field and T has proven multiple times that even when they have inferior talent (as we saw with X in 08,07 where they lost the regular season games by 28+) they still win championships and I attribute that to coaching adjustments and game preparation. Add that to the fact that BG hasn't beaten T in multiple tries recently adding that psychological hurdle and I don't you can chose BG in this one.

My mistake. I was making my comment on the goals of the team and added thoughts on game as I thought it was relevant.

I would not be surprised at all for Trinity to lose this game then come back and win the rematch in the playoff game as they have done so often in the past ten years. Beatty has never shown all his cards in the regular season game and I wouldn't expect him too this year either. It seems that he is always focused on having the team peaking in the playoffs and winning state. That being said, if X shoots themselves in the foot with suspect play calling or turnovers, it could be a long night for X.

I wondered why Ballard didn't make an effort to screen for Snyder to get the ball in his hands. Looked like they just told the kids to try to get open and that wasn't easy since they were being face guarded by athletes of equal or better quality.

This has been Ballard's "modus operendi" for years. I only see Madison Central having the ability to deal with their pressure and athleticism.

IMO, if the girls dive to form, state meet will be won by either Carly Hill or Erin Duffy from Sacred Heart and no-one else will be close! Graduated four division 1 level girl divers from last year's meet so talent is way down this year and after the top 2 it is wide open!

Listened to end of this game St X blew this one. Rekindles the question of whether a team should foul up 3 at end of game, Not doing so killed X tonight after they controlled game most of way.

Congrats to the Trinity class of 2013 football players. That was one of the best runs that will be seen in the state of KY in a long time! Best of luck in the future on and off the field. You have represented your school well!

I think he has the intangibles that are hard to measure! Handles it just OK IMO, nice 3-point shooter and shoots with no fear but most importantly, he is a lock down defender at the high school level. He absolutely locked Tamron Manning up in the state final or it could have been a much closer game. I'll take him on my team any day of the week! That being said, it's Ballard's to lose!

This one could have been worse if T receivers could hold on to the ball!! I counted three drops and two balls that would have been touchdowns all by one receiver. Otherwise, I thought X's defense was solid all night and kept T in check as long as they could. Also, T's defense did a good job of keeping Walker from making the big play.

Didn't X win the frosh game last year?
