  1. I agree totally. My son started at point this year as a freshman in a DIII program but never was a great scorer as a young player but he learned how to handle the ball, see the floor and understand the game. I wouldn't let him shoot the three until he was strong enough to get it there without altering his form and it payed off for him. Too many parents want little Johnny to be the leading scorer on the 3rd grade team at the expense of teaching their kids the necessary skills to compete when they are older. If the kid is a freak on an athelete then he'll be fine at the high school and college level but the rest of them need to learn to play the game correctly! And I totally agree that AAU has it's place in their development as it allows the kids to see and play against the best; thereby understanding what they need to do to compete.
  2. Probably the best two teams left in tourney playing in the quarters? Historically, Clark has struggled with the 7th over the past two years (when not playing at home) I'll have to go with Eastern and see if Clark proves me wrong.
  3. Agree you need to watch out for Bullitt East. I think that this sets up just like last season where Ballard had to run the gauntlet while Shelby Valley had a very easy road and a Ballard team that probably wins 8/10 against SV had nothing left on Sat night.
  4. Hard to beat a good team three times in a season. Game at Trinity. This could be a mild upset in the making. Trinity has to score over 60 IMO to win.
  5. I was never implying that this was not an upset, just that X is and has been in the bottom half of the 7th for many years and that doesn't make sense. I did see that they have a talented freshman this season who was not a CSAA kid.
  6. I disagree! They haven't been in the top 7-8 of the 7th region in the past 5-6 years and that's inexcusable when they are competing for state tiltles yearly in about every other sport.
  7. The real question is that why can X can get the elite athletes on the the football squad but not on the Bball squad. Is that because playing both is discouraged?
  8. Trintiy was way too quick on defense and gave HC very few open looks
  9. I bet that was under 20% in the first three quarters as they scored 1/2 their points in the 4th quarter?
  10. I would say Trinty falls in right behind Eastern and Ballard in the 7th the way they are playing now. Problem is- they have Ballard next Wed in the 1st round of the district in a game being played at Trinity.
  11. Senior night for Trinity. I expect they will not be overlooking Holy Cross.
  12. I agree with Walter. Renner scheduled this game, as well as the Clark Co. game, to get his kids ready for Districts and Regionals and it does him no good to have a walkover. I doubt he's the least bit upset. Now the Senior night postponement probably ruffled other peoples feathers.
  13. Sounds like an absolute war. Eastern comes from 14 down in 1st half and blocks 3 at buzzer to win
  14. I think if Zach Price returns, this is a reasonable ranking with their body of work earlier in the season. Without him, I'm not sure they're in the top 10?
  15. Think the winner on this by a landslide will be the Ballard-Trinity matchup!
  16. Not so sure on that! They have to get through Eastern. Also have Trinity and Jtown in the way who are top 10. As it was last year, 7th has 3-4 teams that could be favorite to win in about every other region.
  17. Agree, but I believe their "B game" is much better than most other A games.
  18. Ballard and Eastern are just much better than anyone else in the state this year. If either one of them are playing reasonably well, they won't be beaten by any other KY team, IMO.
  19. If last year's Ballard sqaud with their talent and experience couldn't win at GRC, then I don't think this years can. On a neutral floor, if Ballard hits over 30% from 3, they win. They're pretty darn good for as young as they are so watch out GRC!
  20. Ballard vs Trinty in first round of District so one top ten team won't even make it to regional.
  21. Seneca beats Trinity by 18 tonight. Coupled with their upset of Ballard they are the #1 seed in district. Two current top ten teams playing in the first round of district!
  22. Nice win! Never easy to win at Lex Cath with the "friendly" officials. I wouldn't worry about the rematch quite yet since Clark has to go through the 7th region to get to Saturday and that will be a war!
  23. No knock at all. They are 6th in state and IMO based on what they have done on the floor, that is reasonable. A five point win against a Male team that is WAY down this season should raise some questions!
