  1. Just my opinion but, because of Glaser's system relying on overpowering you with the run and passing as a gimmick, X has to have the talent edge on the line to be at least two touchdowns better than T (which they were last season) to win in the end. Just don't see much room for error in their approach to the game so if X can develop the powerful line advantage they had last year, I agree they may end up #1. Otherwise, as we saw in 2006-8, they won't beat T in the end.
  2. You may be correct. I just had heard that the family had seriously considered Trinity coming out of 8th grade.
  3. What about the freshman at Lafayette who played as an 8th grader? As I understand, he played up 2 years in AAU this summer and did well.
  4. Agree with this however; more importantly, Beatty will have the correct kids playing at the end of the season- and that may mean we see some players going both ways!
  5. As I stated earlier, all of the schools you mentioned are fine for the academically talented kid but for the kid who may need some help, I don't think they can offer what Trinity does with the emphasis on passing the ACT being a priority. That being said, I have no idea where the Hicks kid is academically?
  6. I have no idea what the kid's academic capabilities are but if he's not an academic superstar IMHO there isn't a school around that does a better job of getting kids (with whatever academic skills they possess) to graduate AND achieve the ACT score to play D1 sports.
  7. As I understood, Hicks' family was looking at Trinity coming out of 8th grade with Quick and Hatcher but ended following the Levitch kid to North Oldham and it didn't work out. I don't think this was an "out of the blue" decision and now the kid is being forced to switch schools anyway because of Collins opening.
  8. I would disagree with this on the D1 level as other posts have stated- they will find the player most likely based on AAU performance. On the other hand, I absolutely agree that for D2 and D3, especially out of the local area where the player is in high school, the player or parent absolutely has to let the coach know that he is out there and then get the high school coach to contact the school and be an advocate. Most smaller schools look for kids from their area or kids that preemptively contact them.
  9. Trinity is a bit of an unknown. They lost major contribtuors with Sewell(DI), Epley(DIII) and Corbett(DIII) alll going on to play at the next level. I look for them to be at the top of the 2012 rankings but I'm not sure they willl be top ten this season. Ballard also lost a ton and I'm not sure they willl be top 10. I would add Seneca as the other 7th region team in the top ten.
  10. And there are also a handful of kids who are able to attend top 20 academic schools because they can play basketball.
  11. This is spot on! I remember reading a few years ago that some college presidents were considering being less restrictive about alcohol on campus to keep the kids out of cars after they had been drinking. They're going to have a few and I'd rather have them stumble home from a campus party to their dorm than take the chance of getting behind the wheel of a car!
  12. Jtown and Eastern appear to be the favorites but Ballard, Seneca, and Trinity will be very good again ! I think Eastern was the clear cut favorite pre-season last year but never seened to gell and ended up being no better than the 3rd best team in the 7th so Jtown will have to prove that they can mesh all the talent and new personalities into a team! The game isn't decided simply by the number of D1 players putting on the jerseys if they can't play together!
  13. Also have several in top 30 for the class of 2012. Should be contenders in 7th for next several years.
  14. Aaron, class of 2011, commits to Seton Hall over weekend. Congrats and good luck!
  15. I think the Coach should do whatever he can to connect the kids with colleges where they may have a chance to play. There is no way that Mikey Gabbard shouldn't have multiple opportunuties to play if he had been promoted by his coach!
  16. There are also a few kids who turned down the possibility of playing at a higher level or even scholarship money to attend the best academic schools. I know the Trinity kids Epley and Corbett both had scholarship opportunities and elected to go the schools where they received less money in order to attend some of the top academic schools in the country. In their cases, despite ACT scores in the 30's and top 5% class rankings, I seriously doubt they would have been admitted to Williams or Johns Hopkins without basketball so sports can help open doors that would be shut otherwise!
  17. Josh Sewell to Miami (Ohio), not sure they're the redskins anymore rather the redhawks. And it's Dakota Euton, not Eyton
  18. Trinity should be near the top of the 7th again next year although I don't think they will be as good as this season's team which was ranked #1 in many polls for a good portion of the season. They lost three key players in Sewell, Epley and Corbett but return some significant talent with SG Foster, PF Deudonne, SG Quick, PG Saxton and C Armstrong.
  19. I know for a fact that the quality of school had a major impact on the Trinity kids Epley(Williams college) and Corbett(Johns Hopkins) picking their schools.
  20. Remember, it's just my opinion and no-one has to agree. Let's hope all the kids have great college careers!:thumb:
  21. UKYBBALL- IMO, Sewell(and Rico) are better than Justice and that's not going to change as I've seen them all play. Congrats to Justice for the scholarship but I still think Sewell had the better season and is clearly the better player!
  22. Oh sorry, I missed the heated recruiting battle that transpired that led to this late scholarship offer after Samuels left. Come on! Looking at the scout.com site, Sewell is still a 2 star and Justice isn't even ranked so arguments can be made both ways. Congrats to the kid but I agree with Walter and don't believe a late scholly offer from a school where he was already a walk-on suddenly vaults him over some of the other players in this class.
