  1. I believe I have been very logical Sewell was injured and couldn't make tryout but would you honestly leave him off based on the year he had and I would bet the house he would have earned a spot at the tryout Epley made it based on tryout but he has been underrated all year! Just my opinion bit it looks like they went for size with some of the unexpected picks.
  2. Agree Chiles would have made it based on the season but I heard he really didn't play well in tryout. Same goes for Gibbs and Polson. Let's face the facts that if you're going to try and win, Sewell gives you the best chance and you can't penalize arguably the best player all year because he had to have surgery. I've heard from several people who were there that the group chosen looked best in tryouts
  3. What's the surprise? They were number 1 in the state for most of the year so they had to have some players
  4. I think other factors come into play with the Scott County kids. They don't finish school until June 13th so the practice time would require them to miss class the week before or during exams. Also, the second game is being held on the day they graduate! I think that is plenty or reason not to go to take a spot when you may have to miss a game for graduation.
  5. If Sewell is on the roster, he should be cleared to play by game time assuming all goes well with recovery.
  6. Where are all the D1 offers? He's a DII, NAIA player at best and if he goes to UK he will get less time than Hood. If I'm wrong, I'll be glad to admit it but if the kid was anywhere close to being a UK quality player, he would have multiple mid-major oppportunities and I haven't heard of a single one? If he wants to go to UK and be on the team, by all means take the opportunity. If he wants to play, look elsewhere IMO.
  7. This is the not the statline of a UK player. IMO, Polson needs to go somewhere where he will get the opportunity to play because it won't happen at UK. I don't think you can tell anything by an open gym workout because the other kids aren't playing nearly as hard as they will when it comes to real practice. If Polson was good enough to contribute at UK, Calipari would have been on him a long time before now!
  8. This is incorrect! The ballots were sent out prior to the end of the season but were not due back until after state. If the coaches are like anybody else, I bet they they waited until the last minute to fill them out. As I stated in threads earlier this season, Sewell had THE best season this year and this validates that. Justice had a great season and career and won state and I think that's why he got the Mr. Bball vote but his overall resume for 2009-2010 in no way compared to Sewell's as he didn't get the opportunity to put up his numbers against near the level of competition(top 20 teams for the season). And Justice fans please exhale!- I'm not saying Justice may not have done the same if they had played a more difficult schedule(only four top 20 teams all year?) but he just didn't get the chance and that's not his fault. Both kids had great years and both are moving on to hopefully great college careers!
  9. Tim Henderson from CAL should have gotten an invite IMO
  10. Centre has offered spots on team to both Taylor Epley and Daniel Corbett from Trinity. Corbett has offers(spot on team) from Johns Hopkins and Centre and has had interest from Emory Epley has offers from Williams College DIII, Centre, and Bellarmine and several others. I believe Centre is recruting Colin Lopez from CAL also.
  11. Nope, I realized as soon as SV won their first game in the state, he had the award!
  12. First, Sewell wouldn't consider a walk-on position so the Pitino comment has no relevance. Second, if you look at the whole season, I think Sewell's was better. You switch their regions and Trinity has a darn good shot of being your state champion(beat Ballard once in LIT) and anybody that follows KY bball has to admit that! And I never said Justice isn't a great player, but he had the advantage of a fortuitous schedule and region and if you don't want to admit that, you aren't being realistic.
  13. Can't disagree. I think Justice will probably win and is deserving, I just think it is NOT correct to say that he had a better year or, even more, is a better player because I don't think that's true(although this could really never be proven either way) for the reasons I stated earlier.
  14. Don't agree with this one! I agree that SV played better as a team- this night K. Jones- Bellarmine and Davenport is getting a steal I Chiles- D1(Morehead?), DII offers T Means- NAIA, Juco E. Justice - UofL walk-on Newsomes- DIII? Hatfield- DIII? I think when it's all said and done with that Keiston Jones may end up being the best player out of this class! He has only been entirely focused on basketball for three years(played baseball in the summers) and he is a young senior(still 17 I believe) so he has a ton of upside.
  15. Sitting here watching NCAA games and looked through the stats for the state tourney. How did Scott Co. have seven players foul out in their quarter and semi games when only 4-5 players fouled out in total of all the other teams playing in games decided by less than 10 points? I wasn't there but does anyone, preferably without a Scott Co bias, think the officials were holding them to a different standard?
  16. Neither Paducah Tighlman, W Jessamine, or Mason were ever in the top ten and, as I recall, were only in the top 20 maybe a few weeks of the season. Ballard, on the other hand, played Shelby Co(top 20 most of year), Warren Central(top 10) and Scott Co( top 3). I not sure why stating reality makes me an elitist! And if you read my whole post, on multiple occasions I said Justice was deserving, I just stated my opinion that his body of work THIS season was NOT as good as Sewell's.
  17. Agree! Let me post something I posted elsewhere: I think Justice will win Mr Bball but let me compare seasons! Same averages scoring, Sewell >reb, Justice >asssist, steal Sewell -Justice Ballard 1-2 1-0 State Both scored about 20/game against Male 2-1 Jtown 1-0 -1-0 Seneca 3-0 Lex Cath 1-0 Chris Co -- 0-1 Clark Co 1-0 Scott Co 1-0 Eastern 1-0 St X 1-0 Mason Co --1-0 state Bowling Gr 1-0 Shelby Co 0-1 Top 20 THS 13-4 SV 3-1 Tourney KOB,RBC,LIT All A, State Tourney strength IMO 1 LIT 2 KOB 3 RBC 4 State 5 All A This doesn't mean that Justice couldn't have performed just as well but he didn't get the chance; so although I think Justice certainly is deserving, Sewell did as much against a lot better competition this season and I believe that if Trinity had the same road that SV had, they would have played Ballard last night and it's obvious from the fact they beat them once, they would have had a shot to win., In conclusion, Justice had a great year and is deserving for his career but his schedule and region and an fortuitous cakewalk to the finals of state certainly helped!
  18. Congrats to SV. Proved that they can more than play with the big boys this year!
  19. Didn't University Heights win both in the 80's or 90's?
  20. Can't imagine Justice doesn't win it now that his team is in the finals. I still believe that overall Sewell played against far better competition this year(even though SV is in finals they still played 1/2 the top 20 teams that Trinity did and 2 of Trinity's four losses were to tonight's opponent Ballard) and put up as good or better numbers but not getting to Rupp will win it for Justice.
  21. Saw them both play and I have to give the nod to Scott County. They could lose if they turn the ball over more than 20 times, which is possible against Ballard but they have the size inside, big guards who should be able to handle the traps, and they are athletic enough to compete on the glass and in transistion. Should be a barnburner! :thumb:
  22. Nope. Willdcatfan is a NKY guy based on his posts.
