Excluding Deuce, who played in CSAA but was an Indiana kid and would have gone to Providence if he stayed near home, X has had mostly public school backs for the past 6-7 years, including now. Also, several of their key defensive players now and in the recent past were public school kids so in no way are they any different than T in offering the opportunity to play in a good system and get a great education. It's just that T has a group of exceptional kids right now!

Agree- it could have really hurt T.

I saw that as a make-up call for the PF on Quick. Both after the play was dead and not really warranted IMO.

18-24, 2 TD, 0 int Are you kidding? The kid does exactly what he needs to do. Being a basketball guy more than football, I would say that he is the quintessential "point guard" who runs the team and gets the ball where the team needs it to go to win and rarely gets the acccolades. As far as Mattingly goes, excellent athlete, threw some good balls last night but IMO I'd be shocked if he goes as far as Wright at the next level.

Trinity-St. Xavier (Prediction Thread)
loubballfan replied to wailupebob's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think there is a direct connection between the bolded statements that is the basis for many T fans and their dislike for X football. I'm not sure this applies to the other sports as the rivalries have continued without similar "antics" from the coaching staffs. -
Trinity’s Foster commits to Morehead State

Actually, they probably have 4: Hicks Foster Deudonne-getting looks from low D1 Quick-would probably get D1 offer if he wasn't playing football at next level Saxton-getting D2 looks -
Trinity Moves Up to #5 in USA Today
loubballfan replied to Clyde's topic in KY Football (High School)
I would say that if they can hold serve the next three games, Moeller remains undefeated, and Trinity beats them they may have a chance to jump a few teams but it will be tough to get to #1 without the teams ahead taking a loss -

I was just repeating what I have heard in the recent past from sources very close to the Bball program. -

Some of this competition among other sports, if not most, is self-inflicted. I know for a fact that X football players are strongly discouraged from playing other sports and my sources are mostly related to basketball. Trinity has several kids every year that play both BBall and Fball and although the football caoches may not like it, they compromise. This is one reason that X has been so far behind T in bball over the past 5 years. And I think Trinity 27-10! I will be surprised if this game is as lopsided as last year. -
This was basically an even game if you take away 3 huge plays from James Quick

CF, looking well into the future, how do you feel that Moeller compares to Cincy X?
-
Remembering he's a 16 YO junior and I'd have to say he did what he needed for them to win despite the pressure! Congrats to the kid and keep it up!
-
Great win, Appeared that Travis Wright missed a few passes that he normally doesn't and a few dumb penalties in 1st half hurt the offense but otherwise it looks like they played well and D was incredible in a hostile environment!

Weather looks good for the game. 68 degrees and no rain. That should make for an honest outcome. -

As a T fan, I hope Glaser sticks around for a long time! -

Let's see: Brooms on the field a few years ago Up a lot and fake a field goal in the state game Inability to give credit to the winning team when you lose Etc., etc. I think Glaser has given the T fans plenty of reasons not to like his actions in the past! -

This was not a fluke! BG outplayed X Especially in the 2nd half I agree the QB is a very good player -
As I have stated in the past, and it's just one guys opinion, you CANNOT make any assumptions about what Glaser will do on offense until you play a real opponent. He will always pass against the easy teams but then becomes one dimensional against the better tems. Time will tell!

Trinity/Brentwood Academy updates

T 21-7 with 437 to go in 1st half -
Good luck "teaching the old dog new tricks". Under Glaser, X has NEVER used the pass as anything more than a distraction from the running game and I can't see if starting now after 30 years.

Is Trinity that good, Highlands that bad, or...
loubballfan replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
Absolutely agree that Beatty has to get a lot of credit. With the exception of the past season, most pundits agreed that X had a clear talent advantage most years over the past 10 and yet only came away with 2 titles versus Trinity's 8.
