Trinity 73 Cooper 61 (KOB Semifinal)

Not sure you can compete for the state championship if you have to rely on so much zone -
Trinity/Cooper Predictions
loubballfan replied to THS2011's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I have a feeling Trinity has been playing to the level of their opponents so far so I would not put a lot of stock in the Pulaski game. I can't imagine they won't be fired up to play Cooper knowing how good they are -

Trinity is not a shabby defensive team themselves -
Fern Creek 75 Seattle Cleveland 57

As I recall the Seattle coach was concerned he wouldn't have enough competition. Wonder what he thinks about those Ky teams now? -

Haven't seen Ballard yet this year but I'm sure they will press and harass with about 10 athletes. Survive the pressure and don't let them get a lot of offensive boards and putbacks and Cov Cath can get through -
Trinity 90 Anderson County 54
loubballfan replied to TheDeuce's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Trinity main three (Johnson, Scrubb and Powell) played and shot well. Penny tried to keep Anderson in game but didn't have much help. Should be a nice player for Bellarmine If trinity shoots this well from three- they will be hard to beat -
The BEST teams not to win

Trinity in 2015 had Ray Spalding and at least four other D1 kids with a few D2 and D3 on bench- lost in state semis -
All good points! I just recall the one year he had Nance, McElwain, the brothers who transferred from New York, and Montrez Harris? A nice collection of talent!
-
I thought Sargeant underachieved a little at Seneca. He had a lot of talent between 2008-2011 and never really threatened in the region.

Hard to pass up the Princeton spot if these are the choices- assuming money isn't an issue Best chance to play and by far the best education(and I'm including Vandy)!

And Aaron Cosby started with this class before transferring to prep school his junior year. He started at Seton Hall last year and transferred to Illinois before this season. -

Rice is ranked the 18th best University in the country in US news rankings. Not sure where else he was looking but he will get a great education there! If he's good enough to play pro ball, they will find him there -
Holmes/Trinity Game Moved To Holmes/canceled
loubballfan replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I can guarantee T wants to play the game win or lose. Szabo has reached a level where he wants to prepare his kids for the end of the season and he will risk a regular season loss against a quality team if he thinks it will help his team in the end. Can't disagree with that approach -
Holmes/Trinity Game Moved To Holmes/canceled

Doubt that was the motivation. Probably both teams wanted to make sure the game got played as it will make both of them better come district time and not sure if they can play Feb 9th. I doubt they were trying to offend Coach Hall in any way. -
Ballard 63 Trinity 61 OT - LIT
loubballfan replied to Getslow's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Have to throw out the first game since Spalding didn't play in the second half. That would be like Ballard losing Snider for a half. 7th region tourney sets up to be a war. -
And Fern Creek would love to have Quentin Snyder(who played for them as an 8th grader) In Jeff Co kids go where they want, whether it be public or private, so can't just blame the privates for this one.

Trinity 64 St. Xavier 56

Can't imagine Szabo wouldn't prefer Spalding to touch the ball on every possession. If he's doubled, he can kick out for the open three. -

If point guard scores 23 then I wonder how much of the offense runs through Spalding. Typically, Szabo tries to get his better interior players touches if the offense is run the way he wants. -

What's this make, 7 out of the last 8 T victories in the rivalry? For whatever reason, X not in T's league in basketball! -
Lexington Catholic 65 Knott County Central 47

LC has to be one of the toughest places to play. Always seems that you are playing 5 on 8 when you play Catholic at home. -
Trinity vs. Ballard 12/23 - KOB
loubballfan replied to Getslow's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Sounding like a broken record from the last ten years, T will have to slow down the game and take care of the ball keeping the turnovers less than 15 IMO. That being said, they have only been able to get past Ballard (when it counted for something) three times in the last ten years that I can recall including last year in the LIT and with a state championship team in 2012 in the regional and the 2010 team which was ranked #1 most of the season in the LIT so I have to think Ballard is the clear favorite in this one.
