Hopkinsville beat Lafayette by 9 but you say Lafayette should be ranked higher than Hopkinsville who is actually down 1 spot from our last rankings?

Mason Co., Madison Central, and maybe Betsy Lane are schools I would consider higher than BG right now. Along with Graves and Doss.

Madison Central just lost to Lincoln County so that hurt them. Losing by 20 to MoCo doesn't help either.

Betsy Layne and Mason County are casualties of SOS at the moment. We'll find out more about them soon. Betsy Layne lost to Campbell County so that didn't help them.

Lafayette is #5.

Lexington Catholic should be higher.

They weren't ranked in the last rankings and they have losses to KCC and Cordia. Not ready to put them higher than Cordia just because they won a quality tournament that they hosted. Going from unranked to #13 is still pretty impressive IMO.

I caught Lafayette after I posted.

I don't think BG has a marque win to be Top 20 material just yet. They definitely have the potential. If it were me voting, I would have had BG right outside the Top 20, and would have waited until their game with John Hardin to decide whether or not to bump them into the Top 20. BG played an easy holiday schedule with their best win of their season, IMO, being over Barren County.

No argument from me. I think that BG's game against Trinity has added some allure to their team. While they lost that game they led most of that game and that was without their football players playing with them. While I agree that they don't have a marquee win just yet the way they have been beating people has caught our attention and it afforded them a spot at 18 when looking at their entire body of work. They lose to John Hardin and they'll be dismissed. The football players are back and seem to have adjusted fine. No excuses for them going forward.

That's fair.

At the same time though, going out of region from Lexington to the 14th isn't easy. KCC is a tough place to win. Huge arena and fans who turn out. Look back at my 11th Region Notebook to see the amount Catholic traveled to play 3 games in 8 days. I think it was the equivalent of driving from Lexington to Orlando non-stop.

Unless Hines were eligible, I'd take Lex Cath over Cordia in a heads-up game on a neutral floor, but I know that's not really what the rankings are all about.

I remember that. It was an a crazy amount of mileage for sure. At the same time, had they won just one of those games they'd be significantly higher. They've proven they can play with both of them but historically we have never bumped a team up from unranked to top 10 or higher. They started the preseason poll in the back part of the poll and then lost twice to get knocked out of the poll altogether once some other teams put some impressive wins together. Now that LexCath has proven to be legit(at home anyways) they have to slide in somewhere. I think where Cordia sits(even after Cordia's embarassing loss to Male) is a good spot for LexCath to land for now. It also gives them an opportunity to keep rising as they move into their district and region schedule.

Did you know that LexCath and Lafayette could possibly meet 5 times this season? I'm sure you did. Blows my mind.
