Robert Shaw scores 19 to lead X.

Well played game, Spalding diffence maker for Trinity with his length.

Go Tigers

Did X storm the court this year?

What's this make, 7 out of the last 8 T victories in the rivalry?

For whatever reason, X not in T's league in basketball!

This game was not as close as the score indicated. The style of basketball Trinity plays does not lend to any real blowouts. Like discussed in other threads Trinity is just better at every position. X plays hard just not enough talent this year to compete with Trinity or Ballard (but then again there are very few that can).

Telling stat. At halftime Shaw had 16 points. He is literally all X has. When T clamped down on him X had no one else to step up.

Other Notes:

Attendance was 6,200

Freshman: Trinity 42-28

JV: St. X 51-41

When Trinity controls the pace and keeps the score in the 50 and 60's they are tough to beat. Adding a player like Ray Spalding who is really starting to develop makes it even more difficult.

Ray had 15 rebounds to go with his 17 points.

Trinity Coach Szabo was happy with his team's second half performance. X Coach Klein said his team has to play more than 16 minutes to beat a "top 5" team.

On to the Louisville Invitation Tournament, which should be quite fun.

Honestly though he didnt play anywhere up to his potential. He was plagued with foul trouble and didnt play most of the second quarter. Missed two dunks and floated around the perimeter when he had such a distinct height advantage. One wonders if he ever "gets the fire" how good he could be. I actually think that all the "chatter" that Robert Shaw was giving him got in his head.

Just think how good he can be if he improves over this upcoming off season as much as he did over last off season.

I think the broken leg before his sophomore year slowed his progress for a little while. Now he's put that behind him and is coming on strong. I really like his game, reminds me of a high school version of Marcus Camby. Block shots, rebound, run the floor, get put backs. Perfect compliment for Trinity.

His level of effort may be his biggest drawback to colleges.

If this indeed the case, hopefully it will improve as he matures.
