His level of effort may be his biggest drawback to colleges.

Honestly though he didnt play anywhere up to his potential. He was plagued with foul trouble and didnt play most of the second quarter. Missed two dunks and floated around the perimeter when he had such a distinct height advantage. One wonders if he ever "gets the fire" how good he could be. I actually think that all the "chatter" that Robert Shaw was giving him got in his head.

He missed one dunk. But in regards to floating around the perimeter, he just runs the sets that are called. If you all want to see him explode and take over a game, then the other players on his team have to pass him the ball.

When you're the best player on your team and your team-mates don't pass you the ball its going to look like you're not giving maximum effort.

It works both ways. Spalding is a black hole when he gets it passed to him below the free throw line. #13 was open numerous times for the kick out and it just didnt happen. If he just did that a couple of times a game they would not collapse as much on him. Its quite obvious he wants to play on the perimeter and as far as giving maximum effort we are just going to have to agree to disagree on that one.

The second dunk in which he was fouled on still counts as a shot.

I don't know how many games you've been to, but if its more than one, you would know when he is on the block he rarely gets the ball passed to him. The only time he has legit opportunities to create is when he away from the basket. So maybe he does want to play on the perimeter but most of that is by design.

It only counts as a shot if he hit. If he missed, then its not a shot attempt, at least to my knowledge.

If point guard scores 23 then I wonder how much of the offense runs through Spalding. Typically, Szabo tries to get his better interior players touches if the offense is run the way he wants.

The offense isn't run through Spalding. Ivory leads the team in fga nearly every game. This may be the first or second game though, that Ivory has had more points than Spalding.

Can't imagine Szabo wouldn't prefer Spalding to touch the ball on every possession. If he's doubled, he can kick out for the open three.

I don't know what he prefers, but I can tell you Ivory is usually the leader in fga.

And X needs to ice down Shaw's arms after each game. :lol2:

Shaw was 7 of 18 in this one.

Spalding is somewhat limited in offensive skills. He is a beast on defense and the boards. 5,500 was "reported" on Louisville Catholic Sports.com. A person with knowledge of the actual ticket sales confirmed 5,500 was closer to the actual count. Exact figures are never disclosed by either institution.

Not to mention icing down his jaw muscles.

Ask any college coach or scout if Spalding is limited in offensive skills. I don't know what you took my statement as, but it was probably wrong.

I do not like to see the trash talking. Somebody needs to shut him up if he is doing it.
