I have to see Ballard this year. Have to.

Never been impressed with the overall game of James Quick the basketball player.

I think his reputation as an athlete extends to his basketball acumen. However, I've heard the notions that he might pass on bball season for football stuff, any truth to that?

I've heard the same but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I thought he played excellent defense but Trinity seemed to be playing 4-on-5 on offense with him in the floor. I think Craig Owens will be better than Quick. Isn't the Miles kid back for them also? I liked him a lot also. Of course you know I am a big Hicks fan. :D

What a great regional tournament it'll be, huh?

Trinity will be solid this year, no doubt about it, but I don't think it will take very long to realize just how much we're going to miss several of those guys that graduated.

As soon as last year's 7th region semifinals were over, it was abundantly clear to me that Ballard would be the favorite in 2012-13.

I think he has the intangibles that are hard to measure!

Handles it just OK IMO, nice 3-point shooter and shoots with no fear but most importantly, he is a lock down defender at the high school level. He absolutely locked Tamron Manning up in the state final or it could have been a much closer game.

I'll take him on my team any day of the week!

That being said, it's Ballard's to lose!

I should probably say I'm not impressed with his offensive skills. He shot a lot of air balls in the Sweet 16 and pretty much wouldn't shoot at all by Saturday night. He was tremendous on defense though. I remember watching him guard Derek Willis and was impressed at the job he did on him despite giving up 6-8 inches.

The kid is just a competitor and a winner!

Not quite two months ago, I heard Coach Szabo respond to a question about this, and he said he had never heard from anyone, James or otherwise, that that James was not going to play basketball.

When Sam Robey was going though that, it was because the people down at Florida had asked him not to play, correct? So maybe the fact that James hasn't committed anywhere yet is preventing that sort of meddling.

I only just now have had a chance to look at the player rankings. The one that stands out is Brock Kiesler. I only saw him twice last year and both were in the 7th Region tournament (semifinal vs. Central and final vs. Trinity) but he acquitted himself well. He stood out in that Trinity game, doing a nice job especially considering his counterpart was Nathan Dieudonne. He ought to have a really nice season.

Could be. Good point.
