  1. Coaching has been an issue for over a decade now. Until the school wants to put the basketball program equal to the football program this will continue to be the case. It is a shame to see such great teams at Gray Middle School come to Ryle and not produce. The 2001-2002/02-3 team were solid because they played AAU together.
  2. The tempo has been an issue for 10 years at Ryle now. Nate and Mullins both wanted to play a slow game and try to win by playing solid defense. The toughness on the defensive end has been a quality at Ryle since the 2001-2002 season. However, they have always been offensively challenged because of the coaching staff. There are too many solid athletes at that school to only be scoring 30 points against a team like Boone. A Ryle team that is challenged on offense is nothing new. Heck, look at Doellman's junior and senior year scoring average and try to tell me he wasn't good enough to average more than 17 as a junior and 21 as a senior.
  3. I am a Ryle alum, but 30 points? Really? Against your rival?
  4. I was way off with my prediction.
  5. Just because you are "talking" doesn't mean you are talking trash. There is a huge difference.
  6. I say Cooper wins . I look for them to hold the ball and pull the upset. I'll say Cooper 29 Holmes 26.
  7. Congrats to Elliot County. Kentucky High School basketball must be a little better than I thought, if the 4th or 5th best team in the state is getting that kind of recognition.
  8. Ryle- for basketball Doellman, for football Randy Cooper.
  9. Stop bashing Holmes when you were not even at the game. Have you seen Conner or Holmes play this year? Coach Hicks is the best coach in the 9th, IMO. From what I heard Conner played great half court defense and had Holmes a bit frustrated. From the way the Elliot County scores look it doesn't look like they even believe in defense. I can not comment on an Elliot/Holmes matchup, because I have not seen Elliot play this year. However, I am sure I can take your word for it, since you have seen Holmes play so much it seems like.
  10. Nice to see McLeish having a good game.
  11. And please, are posters really comparing Simpson to Shaun?
  12. Can't even show support to four NKY schools making the state finals, without "Almighty" Trinity taking a shot.
  13. Very good? Certainly disagree. He is decent.
  14. Talked to a friend that was at the game. He said Ryle played well and could certainly beat Boone. He also said that guard play was the difference. Ryle, once again, does not have good Guard Play it sounds like.
  15. Cooper might be decent in 5 years, but they will be like the rest of the Boone County schools in basketball. Hard to have great teams when there are 4 huge schools in the same county. When was the last time a Boone County school won a 9th region championship? Ryle in 2002, what other school in the last 15 years?
  16. Other than the two long pass plays, Boone was pretty stout.
  17. I heard the Boone players want this game to be moved to Ryle so they can play on the new field turf.
  18. Ryle's schedule vs Beechwood's. Vince was a heck of a linebacker.
  19. Region was there my Senoior year and it was the same thing. It was cold, windy and a slight rain, pins were cut in ridiculous places. I remember a few holes I was looking around for the clowns mouth to putt through.
  20. Looks like Kenton Country tricked up The Willows course once again. They make that course unfair sometimes for the regional tournament.
