I was working on details as you posted this score. Someone may want to combine the thread.

Ryle leading at half. Great game until middle of 3rd when Ryle couldn't handle Boone's pressure defense and had a ton of turnovers to finish the game. Ryle had some serious issues handling the ball. Also don't recall them hitting a 3-pointer the entire game (maybe 1?). On the bright side, both Russell and Stauffer looked very good. Boone got some nice guard play. McFarland had a super breakway move and layup late in the game that showed why he is one of the region's best.

I think I called about a ten point win for Boone tonight.

Basically. Ryle can no doubt play with Boone. Boone's guards are quicker and overall better, but Ryle has a better inside game.

Its scary but tonight was close to a carbon copy of the start of last season. Play close through the first half then fall apart. They failed to take advantage of the inside game. To many times players had their man posted up and the guard looked away. Call me old school but if your able to post a player up I am not sure why you don't.

Boone not having a good inside game will cost them in the long run. Bigger teams will pound them down low and really give them fits.

I personally think the jury is still out on Boone but others might disagree with me. Ryle is a solid team. Potential to be top 5 and could knock off anyone in the region on any given night if they're on.

Talked to a friend that was at the game. He said Ryle played well and could certainly beat Boone. He also said that guard play was the difference. Ryle, once again, does not have good Guard Play it sounds like.

Ahern had a lot of trouble with Boone's press and committed many turnovers. Boone's guards were the difference in the game. Boone didn't press until the second half. They played zone the first half and got slapped with about 15 fouls. Ryle was in double bonus 1/2 of the way through the second quarter.

Dead on. Without the good guard play, Boone loses this one. Ryle's big guys Stauffer and Russell outplayed Boone's bigs. If Boone doesn't get better rebounding and offense from their inside players, I feel they can surely lose. Many times Boone's bigs hang around too much on the perimeter and don't try to post up enough on the blocks.

Yes, but I think Trevan Brown will make a difference because he is a big strong banger and rebounder down low and seems more focused on rebounding than scoring, which is what Boone needs. I see him getting more and more varsity minutes as he comes back from football.
