Riley led the Dogs with 15...Eta will recap when he gets home.

Looks like both Holmes and Elliott Co. both had tougher nights than expected. Just goes to show when your on top of the mountain everybody wants to knock you off. Better bring their "A" game every night or somebody will get them!

How many dunks did Holmes have?

Holmes 13 15 13 14 55

Ryle 8 15 10 8 41

Pittman 12

Riley 15

Housley 7

R Johnson 6

D Johnson 6

Arnold 5

J Johnson 4

The game was close due to the missed oppertunities, bad shots, and the foul trouble of the Johnson brothers. They missed a lot of the second and fourth quarters due to ticky tacky and sloppy fouls. The score should have been 20+ difference. All and all a good win for the Bulldogs who just keep rolling on. :notworthy:

Coleman is more of a small forward. Still a great dunk by Pittman.

This was a little closer than I expected, but another ninth region win for the Bulldogs. Does anyone have Ryle's Ft%? It seemed like they missed a lot of Ft's that could have really helped them down the stretch.

Jumping over anybody is huge period, I beleive the big man was right there also. Don't matter, it was nasty.

This game was close for a lot longer than Holmes fans wanted it to be. I believe it was a 5 point game at half and just as much as people were talking about Pittman's ally-oop they were talking about how shocked they were that it was as close as it was. Holmes really didn't begin pulling away until the last minute or so of the third and the game still was sort of hanging in the balance then.

Bad shots are all to common and almost expected now instead of an excuse. Coach Henley is even pulling guys now for bad decisions when shooting the ball now it has become so common. I seen Pittman get pulled at one point this game because of a bad 3-point attemt.

Foul trouble occurs in basketball, is Holmes deep enough to deal with it? Obviously not if we are making excuses and that could haunt them in March if it is the truth. JJ and Rico missed time in the second, the end of the 3rd and the first 4 minutes of the 4th. However the end of the 3rd and start of the 4th is when Holmes began to pull away so I can't use that as an excuse.

At halftime it became clear that this would be a lot closer than people expected, and regardless of the final score it really was. If Holmes can play 32 complete minutes they would be scary but they still seem to lose focus at times, play a little lazy, or get out of control and turn the ball over and/or committ silly fouls which they can't afford.

Still a W however so you can be happy that the win was preserved, however the style in which it came in can and should be questioned IMO.

Does anyone have Ryle's stats?

Just got in from the game.

First quarter Ryle came out swinging. They started the game in man but quickly realized Holmes was too quick and then switched over to a 2-3 zone. Ryle led 5-4 after the first few mins. Pittman then came down and hit a 3 after Ryle took the lead. Holmes was aggressive early on and got Mcleish in foul trouble within the first few mins of the game. With time winding down in the first, Rico hit probably a 35 footer at the buzzer over 2 defenders to give Holmes a 13-8 advantage after one.

Second quarter, Holmes started getting in foul trouble as the refs were absolutely horrible BOTH ways. Rico went to the bench with his second foul with 6:58 left and we wouldn't see him again until the third quarter. J. Johnson was a man on the boards in the first half before having to go to the bench in foul trouble with Holmes up 16-13. With around 4 mins to play til half, Ryle switched up to a 1-3-1 zone after Holmes had taken a 20-17 lead. Ryle then scored on their next possession to cut the lead to one and I believe took a brief 21-20 lead before Riley came down and hit a big 3 to give Holmes a 23-21 advantage. We'd then see the play of the game. Ryle had a chance to take the lead but missed a shot, D. Johnson and Pittman went racing down the floor against two Ryle defenders, D. Johnson threw the ball up and Pittman went up for it with the Ryle defender, grabbed it and threw it down two handed while also getting fouled. Very nice alley oop dunk by Pittman over I believe either Russell or Coleman to give Holmes a 26-21 advantage. Holmes would head in to the half up 28-23.

Third quarter Ryle came out strong and cut the lead to 29-27 with 6 minutes left, after JJ went to the bench with his third foul. Arnold did a nice job getting in the lane and drawing fouls with JJ out. With 4:32 left Holmes led 31-27 after Riley got fouled and knocked down both free throws. Ryle then closed the deficit to 33-31 but back to back three's by Riley and D. Johnson gave Holmes a 39-33. Holmes ended the quarter on an 8-0 run to head in to the fourth up 41-33.

Fourth quarter Holmes opened up the quarter with a 3 to go up 44-33 and then Ryle tried to start pounding the ball inside which didn't work too well because of Holmes' size. I believe Holmes got 4 straight blocks with Pittman getting a big one on Nichols. With 5 mins left Holmes led 46-36. With 3:55 left Rico and JJ both finally came back in to the game. Holmes led 48-36 with 3 minutes to play. Ryle then tried to start pressuring and trapping Holmes which led to Housely being wide open on the baseline. He went up over a Ryle defender and dunked on him softly while also getting the And one to push Holmes lead to 51-38. Holmes sealed the deal at the line to give you the final of 55-41.

Game was VERY physical and the refs were pretty bad to say the least. They must have called a travel atleast 15 times between the two teams.

Nobody from either team really stood out outside of Riley. Pittman played well early but kind of disappeared in the second half. All in all a good win over a solid Ryle team.

No excuses, just stating facts. I don't expect any of my ball players to be lazy, commit stupid fouls, or make bad shots. I don't think any coach expects that. :eyeonyou: :D

How many dunks did Holmes have?

I'm concerned that I get this and that I find it humorous.
