ESPN.com ran a feature a few months ago called "Face of the Program," in which it listed one name that comes to mind most in association with a college football program. That got me to thinking about playing the same game when it comes to high school sports programs in Northern Kentucky.

 

While I could have limited this to just high school football or even spread it out among several different sports I decided to try and broaden it to include the one name most associated athletically with each school in Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties regardless of the sport. The "Face of the Program" in some cases will be a player and in some cases a coach. At some schools the choice is an absolute no-brainer and at some of the tradition-rich programs it is almost impossible to narrow the choice to one person....

Wasn't sure whether or not to put this in football or basketball, so I thought I'd just create a thread in both forums and have one "face of the program" for basketball; and one "face of the program" for football.

 

After reading through the article, who would everyone consider the "face of the program" that you support and why? Might be a good history lesson for some.

Coach Allen Feldhaus will always be the "face" of Mason County to me.

Basketball Mote Hils

Five straight Ninth Region Championship and his first was the first in the Schools History. He led CovCath to the State Finals in that first appearance and took the name of CovCath from one section of the Commonwealth to another. He played everyone and anyone, anywhere. Love the man, as he did so much for me.

 

Football Lynn Ray

No one and I mean no one has been as important as Coach Ray to the success of CovCath football. Led CovCath to all but one of their State Titles. He and his wife still attend the games to root on the Colonels. He is CovCath football.....

 

BTW you can add Mr. Tieman and or Mr. Kaelin to my list any way you want as both are what CovCath stands for..... Thanks to all four men....

Holmes:

Player: Doug Schloemer (Only player to ever win Mr. Basketball at Holmes..has jersey hanging in the fieldhouse)
