:thumb: Without a doubt.

I would add Bert Greene w/ Jack Fultz and Al Bane to Tollesboro from an earlier post.

Glad to see Coach Shields (or Coach Squatty as he was sometimes fondly called when he coached at St. Thomas although he was not fond at all of the nickname) get some recognition. Great coach and even better person. :thumb:

I really liked Coach Shields at Highlands, but when I think of Coach Shields, I think of St. Thomas High School. That shows how old I am. Most people probably don't even know that St. Thomas High School ever existed.

Very interesting!!! I go back over 30 years and may be off base here, but for what it's worth:

Beechwood - Mike Yeagle

Bellevue - Mike Swauger

Brossart - Nathan Seiter

Boone - Owen Hauck

Campbell Co - Bob Miller

Conner - Bill Warfield

CovCath - Dan Tieman

CovLatin - Fr. Ed Heile

Dayton - Stan Steidel

Dixie - Mark Pike

Heritage - Bert Capel

Highlands - Ken Shields

Holmes - Reynolds Flynn

Ludlow - Benny Clary

Newport - Stan Arnzen

NDA -

Ryle - Randy Cooper

Scott -

Silver Grove - Steve Sigmon

Simon Kenton - Joe Stark

St. Henry - Dave Otte

Walton V - Bob Eads

Villa - Tim Shields

Mustang, I certainly cannot argue Nathan Seiter from Brossart, but to many, you, the Mustang himself, is the face of Bishop Brossart.

Face of Montgomery Co:

Coach - Bart Rison

Player - Billy Ray Fawns

Voice - Dan Manley

A name that still make Mason Co. fans cringe.

Augusta- Bill Kelcsch

Brooksville/Bracken Co.-Jarvis Parsley

Deming- Stephen Staggs

St. Patrick-??

Pendleton Co.- Bobby Wyatt

Nicholas Co.-Daniel Brown

Clay Eifert....successful two-sport athlete, successful coach...think he may even be the principal now.

This is in the basketball forum. If we're talking as a school then Eifert. Basketball only it's Harney. Caly's success was tied to Harney and he didn't coach too long. Joe's the all time leading scorer and the best palyer from a team that went to the satet tourney, the following year he had them ranked 1 in the state a lot of the year, and he finished in the top 3 for Mr Basketball.

To me it's between Andre and Joe. I would go with Joe, but either one is fine it's close.

Just b/c there are a few Trame's I wouldn't go w/ that name. As far as playing goes I'm not sure any of them were that good. Jeff was a very good coach and won a regional title there, but wasn't there that long. Dan had more success coaching at two other schools than he did at HC. So I wouldn't consider Trame as the face of the program.

For me St Henry would be Rob Padgette.

Scott High - Coaches:

Carl Wendroff( spelling error) Boys

Linda Moore Girls basketball

On a serious note, yes I would agree with those two choices. Ron was a great player back in the 70's and had a great tenure as Boys coach. I heard Carl Foster was one of the best atheletes to ever come out of NCC but I am way too young to remember. LOL
Carl never saw a shot that he didn't like !!:D

What about Neltner for Highlands, didnt he win Mr. Kentucky Basketball? I know Draud is probably the best player to come through there but I think you could make a strong case for Neltner and Derek Smith.

Neltner is a legit choice, but honestly he may not have even been the best player in the region the year he won MR. Basketball.

Draud is hands down the favorite as far as players go. When you think of Highlands historically and players, Draud is the first name that comes to mind...even for the younger ones such as myself. ;)
