O'Connor occurred to me, and I was aware of his success at Thomas More, but Justice's numbers at Cov. Latin (about 27PPG) on a team that was almost .500 are decent credentials to be the "face of the program", whatever that means. Still, having said that, I think the argument for O'Connor is there, too. (I find it almost unbelievable that I am debating who the face of the Cov. Latin program is)

 

:laugh: I agree and to add to the fun, let's throw Jeff Stowers into the mix. He is one of the leading scorers in NKU history and in the N. Ky. Sports Hall of Fame. I still go with O'Conner as the best basketballer at CLS.

Not a bad choice, but when speaking of Covington Holy Cross, Trame usually comes to mind.

 

I would hope Joe Harney would come to mind. He's the best player to come out of there in a long time.

As far as Holy Cross goes, I would say Andre then Joe.

I agree that Trame is the forst name that comes to mind with Holy Cross. But I throw up Eifert as a close second.

 

I also think of Fausz at St Henry and Dawn at Newcath.

 

Maybe not the best to ever come from the school, but definately some of the class acts.

Fr. Heile is CLS sports and Justice is the most recognizable name from CLS history but the best basketball player is definitely Brian O'Conner. He is still #1 in rebounding and #2 in scoring all time for Thomas More College almost 30 years after he played there and he played pro basketball in Europe and in the CBA.

Coach John Bill Trivette:Took team to Final 4 in 1957. Here is an excerpt about Coach Trivette and how he started the revolution of the full court press:

John Bill Trivette’s Pikeville Panthers, who never played a home game during the 1957 season because the Big Sandy River overflowed its banks and flooded the entire town, including the gymnasium.

 

The Panthers utilized a fullcourt press that was revolutionary at the time. Unfortunately, they ran out of gas in the semifinals, losing to Lafayette, 70-61.

This thread really isn't about who you may believe's the best player, or the best Coach for that matter. I know there have been at least three Trames that played for HC and also have Coached. I'm not saying any one of them is the best at either, but for me, the Trame name has been the face of their BB program for a long time.
