Breathitt-34 Prestonsburg-21 As for Johnson Central and Prestonsburg goes, if JC was trying to build up the program they may not have wanted to stack the schedule with teams that would have had the jv in before half time. That would have just demoralized the boys, rather than build a team. As a coach you have to do what's right by your team.

Russell may win, but I doubt that it'll be a blow out. This was a pretty close game last year and Boyd County is far better on run defense. Tyler Jones was the deference last year. As good as Russell is looking right now, they don't have a Tyler type player, or at least not that I've heard about. I'm looking foward to this game, it will let us know where both teams are right now and where they may go.

18-6 Fairview.

Last year Boyd County beat East Carter in everything but scoring, and should easily win this. Having said that, East will likely win as Boyd has yet to win against them, even with bigger faster players.

I don't know anything about these two teams this year, but I thought Rowan County was senior strong last year. If so they may be in some trouble this year. If not then they're in the fight for the district like everyone else, and should easily handle the buisness at hand.

Not to jinx them, but I look for Belfry to go straight to Pappa Johns do not pass go. Keep in mind I have been wrong before. As for my team, Boyd County, I'll say 7-3 or 8-2, and 2 maybe 3 in playoffs with the right breaks.

Lawrence County may have an easy district, but they fill the rest of the schedule with the heavy hitters in the area. The only one they didn't get was Johnson Cental. They did however get Blfry, Breathitt County, Sheldon Clark, Prestonsburg, and I believe Russell again. All that said, with a couple of good showings in the preseason, I'll go with LC, but no score prediction. It's just too early for that.

I hope they are alot better, because they seem intent on keeping that same tough schedule.If they want to build the program back up,I think they might need to ease up on the schedule. It's very hard to get your system into the teams heads when you keep them playing teams that you can't seem to get more than a few yards on.I don't mean play an easy schedule,but don't have all nondistrict games against top 5 or top 10 teams,like Russell,Belfry,Sheldon Clark,Breathitt County,and Prestonsburg.I want Lawrence County back up too,I just think they need to play some more winable games like Pike County Central or Fairview,good competition that you can work with.I'm saying these are examples of two good teams you may beat or not,but you can make strides with.I also am not trying to take away from Pike Central or Fairview,as I said good teams,but beatable,Belfry is not beatable by anyone in Lawence County's district,I saw them Friday and I feel for those on their schedule.

If there is anyone like that on the schedule I haven't heard of him...yet.But from what I could see,Boyd should have a good run with their regular schedule and if Belfry gets much better then we'll need to ship in competition from northern Ky. or Louisville,either way they should be fine since I feel confident they will need to look to larger schools for a challange.jmo.

Boyd County was much improved from last year,but was no where close to where they need to be to play the likes of Belfry.I look to see Belfry improve and make another run at the title.Boyd County,fortunately has no one like Befry on their schedule and should do well with their schedule,the run defense looked alot better,except when #2 was running over everyone in sight.

Maybe we should quit putting St.X @ #1,every time that happens Trinity wins the state title...But I guess they do that no matter who is #1.

I would like to add that I too think Boyd County will be ready this season.

I have'nt been able to check out any practices,but Boyd county had 64 players on the roster last year 9-12. 11 of them were seniors. I can't see Lee Evans running off 29 of his returning players plus however many freshmen they have this year. If there was a meltdown of this caliber, then everyone would have heard about it. I'm not sure why anyone would want to play Belfry one week, then Wayne the next, and the next week is your season opener. I'm not quetioning or anything, I'm just saying that I would'nt schedule 2 back to back physically brutal teams with no time to heal up before the real games.

I've been doing this countdown since the first of the year, my girlfriend is ready to cause me bodily harm. I usually give to her about twice a week to the minute. I'm ready for some football, you know, the kind with no contracts or comercials, just good'ol boys in it for the love of the game.

With Bill Tom Ross at the helm,I'll have to get out to see a few games.I've always liked him and his style of football.

They need to find a run defense.Pass defense was good,if they can pick up where they left off with it.Offense...was good at moments,just needs to be alot more consistent.They could move the ball well on the ground and in the air,but not for 4 quarters.They lost some good talent in Justin Selby and Ryan Crisp,but they had a strong sophmore class last year with solid talent.If they sew up the holes in the ground "D" and pull the offense together for the whole game,they will be tough.I don't think they'll have the rough start like last year at any rate.I believe they have Zac wilson returning,who was not just a good QB,but he was also one of the biggest weapons in their pass defense.Boyd County also returns Donnie Bryant and Chase Miller who will be juniors in the fall,and they have both started to stand out.I think Greenup County lost more to graduation than Boyd County,and Rowan county,too was senior stong if I'm not mistakin,and I think Lawrece County will need a season to get things working for them.So,if my info is correct,I look for Boyd county to handle their district,but I said that last year.

I went with Trinity over X,only because it is so hard to beat a team this good twice.If I could vote 2 times it would be the same game but with X on top.No doubt these are the 2 best teams.

I've just been looking through the thread and it appears that the Breathitt fans want to compare Belfry and Russell.Usually you might be able to do that,but this year Russell wasn't as loaded as in the past,still good though.Belfry on the other hand is extremely loaded.I truly believe these 2 teams are the best in 3A,but make no mistake that Breathitt is facing a far better opponent this week.If they play only as well as they did at Russell,then they are in for a long night.Belfry beating Johnson Central was no fluke,they are for real and I hope Breathitt understands that,if they do,then we have a ball game,Breathitt can play with almost anybody if they know what they're in for.But if they expect a team like they have already faced,it will get out of hand quick.Good luck to both teams,and I have no doubt that the winner brings home the title.

Breathitt is the 2nd best team I've seen this year and by far the most talent packed.If they come to play Russell will need every trick Ivan McGlone has.Russell has a good team,no doubt,but they're not as loaded as they usually are.This shows Ivan's ability as a coach and Russell players heart is unmatched,but it'll take all they have in this one.

Greenup County is playing much better,if they had gotten it together early in the season they would have a far more impressive record.I believe they may be out of their league this week,but I don't think they'll lay down for anyone.If Harrison wants the win,they better be ready to work for it.

They better play better.After seeing both of these teams in action,I can say with all honesty that Russell has their plate full this week.Breathitt may have too much talent for them...but I have been wrong before.

After the penalty was given,yards marked off,and the game was about to get going again the sheriff's dept. esscorted a fan out of the gate.Held the game up for about 10 mins.

Outside of Louisville...Highlands.Otherwise,St.X and Trinity.

Congrats GC,practice hard and stay sharp,the competition gets considerably harder from here.Represent the district well.
