Game was in the metropolis of Union City and there was a very nice crowd for the game, exceptionally large for a regular season game.

They threw 3-4 pitchers but I didn't pay attention to names. I guess I did not notice the bad calls either.

Final from Union. Great job, Raiders. It's not easy to shut out CovCath. Now go start over and get it done. We're pulling for you.

A dropped fly ball on a routine third out where a normally reliable outfielder stumbled led to 4 unearned runs. Very easily could have been 1-0 Ryle. Raiders did not deserve to win. 1 run is not gonna get it done. Congrats to HC.

Now that was one fine baseball game with kids making great plays right and left, shots at people, very few strikeouts, two outstanding pitching efforts, two fine teams. The old cliche - too bad someone had to lose was so true today. The Birds and Ryle have played some good ole good ones as Marty would say. In regards to POY in NKY, I say it is a 6-man race for POY. I will list them in alphabetical order: Allen, Elliott, Farris, Maile, Taylor and Wagner. Good luck to all of these young men.

Thought more would come out to see a rematch of last year's regional final, but I guess I'm comparing crowds to when Ryle hooked up with the Rebels. Awesome place to play and the Raiders really looked sharp. Always nice to finish a game with a walkoff Johnson by Vince. Keep up the good work, Raiders.

Now that is funny. I'm sure he could kick it farther and straighter than any third baseman in the state. A very fine young man and athlete and all of us wish him well as he attends the Wake. (That sounds bad)

Surprised at the margin, not the outcome. Great job, Raiders, in dismantling a decent Scott team.

Thanks. Great effort by both teams and congrats to the Birds on a great turn around. They were really into the game and it's easy to see why they are winning a lot lately.

What grades were the two Bird pitchers in? The starter looked older and brought good heat for sure.

Super day to watch a game and with all of the chatter from the first game, it was a must see game. Here's some comments from the Raider sideline: 1) Two of the best teams in NKY at this point in the season hooked up. 2) Umps were very consistent and good. 3) Fans were equally supportive of their own teams without being nasty in any way or unsportsmanlike towards the opponent. Just a few normal chides to the umps from the affected side on the few questionable calls that happen every game. 4) Highlands first pitcher (#9) could bring it. Ryle hammered him pretty good the second time around the lineup and I think scored all 9 runs off of him. The Birds relief pitcher (#14) was much more effective today. Ryle got better relief pitching than starting pitching, too. Not sure of all names but #17, #20 and #4 pitched for Ryle. The lefty at the end had some good movement on his fastball. 5) Both teams hit some seeds and probably each had 10-12 hits. 6) Raiders were up 9-3 after 3 and the Birds kept "chirping" away to close within 9-8 after the top of the 6th. Insurance run in the bottom of the 6th was big for Ryle. 7) Didn't mind spending $4 to see a great baseball game on a perfect day. Congrats to both teams and staffs. Seemed like quality young men in action playing their hind ends off to win.

:thumb: So true in every sport. Not always the best team that wins, it's the best team on that day. Highlands deserved the win as they played the best on Sunday. Good job, Birdies.

Agreed. Ryle and CovCath will give anyone in the state a battle. They are strong at every position.

I see what both of you are saying. We all know that games are played because on a given day the underdog can rise up and knock you off. Ryle and CovCath have shown to be the two top dogs this year in the 9th and unbiased observers would certainly rate them as the favorites. So, would biased observers. But, neither team will take any of the challengers lightly, because baseball can be a crazy game on a given day.

Nic Simpson was named so that negates the senior only idea. Can't understand leaving Arrez off the team. He has a chance to be the POY next year and was certainly one of the best in the 9th this year IMO.

CovCath has the depth to keep Crews in check. I'll be very surprised if Conner gets out of the 40's. I'll say 59-45, CovCath.
