Still far to upset to report about this game, and it had nothing to do with the game at all. I will let someone else report the game. I will say however, that Nutini (CF CovCath) made what I think was one of the greatest catches that I have seen live today and that includes MLB, College etc. outstanding catch.....

Sorry just to upset to post......

I would have to agree, the catch was amazing!!!:jump: Cov Cath was the better team tonight. They hit up and down the line-up, they were far more aggressive at the plate and on the basepaths, and Boone looked to kind of give up after the fourth when the center fielder miss played a fly ball that would have ended the inning. Instead 2 more runs scored and the rebels couldn't fight back after that.

Well today did it today againist Krohman, without their seniors in the line up. There were 7 sophmores in the line up and 2 juniors. They did a great job putting the ball in play and making Boone's defense play.

So how about someone's (reasonably) unbiased assessment of how the Farris-Maile matchup fared? Either one have a special night?

No seniors played tonight for CC? What gives?

Maile was like 1-2 and Corey was about 1-3. They each had 2 guys steal on them. One being Maile swiping a bag and Farris swiping 2. But Farris stole both on the pitcher standing up no throw.

And the seniors weren't in the line-up due to getting DT for a senior-wide prank.

Neither Maile or Farris did anything special. I do know that it was very unsportsman like for Maile to approach the field ump after a balk call was made. I believe he should have had a little more class than that and let his coach's take care of whatever they felt was wrong with the call.

As for the seniors not playing, I heard that like 100 seniors were suspended or acquired a detention from a senior prank they pulled. The school rule says that they are not allowed to play after serving a detention so i don't think they were even elligable for the night.

Correct. But not a school rule. It is the coaches call.

I believe Maile was the team captain for the game, and prior to talking to the field umpire he was talking to the home plate umpire who I believe told him to ask the field umpire (at least that is what is looked like to me) as the field umpire made the call. At no time did he raise his voice or get out of control, all he did was ask a question and the umpire told him why he called the balk. Umprie didn't get upset with him, just answered his question and I think it wasn't anything close to being unsportmen like. Do you think the team captain can't ask the umpire a question on a call and we are not talking balls and strikes or even a close call on the bases...

Hats off to the seniors for their civil disobedience. I'll respect Krumps right to do what he thinks is best pertaining to baseball. The boys will have to live with the decision they made but , trust me, they will be remembering this for a long time as something their ENTIRE senior class did as a group for one last hurrah. Harmless fun IMO.

Nice job, boys.

FWIW...Maile was the captain...he spoke to the plate ump and asked what the call was....he said he wasn't sure, Maile asked if could ask the field ump for an explanation, the plate ump said 'sure'...Maile calmly asked "Mr. Ump, can I ask what he did?" He was told that he did not come to a complete stop before stepping toward third...Maile then said calmly, that is not a balk. Field ump said yes it is...Maile said I'm sure that's wrong and then then walked back to the plate. I may not share Old GUys passion for this kid on BGP, but there was nothing that resembled 'unsportsmanship' on this night! and the kid was right....

I agree with you; however, the other part of it is this was the last game they could have played on their home field. Would have been a "senior" night if Krumpelbeck ever allowed any team to have one. That is probably going to be the hardest part to swallow. My question is, since the prank was on Monday this week, why did coach wait until today to have them sit? They could have sat on Tuesday which was the game against New Cath. Oh well, I guess coach would only know the answer to that.

Sounds like ol' Luke has a decent grasp of the balk rule. The only time a complete stop/pause is required is if the pitcher comes to the plate with a pitch.
