Good point, DD. The night worked out well for the Raiders. I think you will see them get back to playing very good football again after a bad second half performance vs. Dixie.

Congrats to Dixie and it will be a good one next week at Dixie. Both teams are playing well. TD was called back by a hold. Very glad that Molony is OK. Didn't look good at first. Best wishes to Dixie and Campbell (at least for one round) in the playoffs.

Campbell beat SK during the year but that does not matter in this tiebreaker. The scoreboard shows that Tates Creek lost to Bell Co, that means Camels can only get 18 points max and SK has 19. So, your seeds are correct but method of getting there is not correct.

Well stated. :thumb: I guess we could say that SK had an "elite" freshman season this year.

NewCath will have to win probably 2 close games to take the trophy but I say 2-time defending champs deserve to be considered the favorite at this time.

To me, elite means teams year in and year out that can compete for state titles. So, I agree with some other posters that Beechwood, NewCath, CovCath and Highlands are the 4 elite teams in NKY in their classes. CovCath is down a bit this year but they are coming on strong as the playoffs approach. The 3 other teams are probably favored to win titles in 2007.

Trap game for Dixie with CovCath ahead. Camels are playing for a possible home game vs. Ryle + Sr. Nite = a very good ball game that could go either way. Dixie could end up with a losing season if they get upset by the Camels so that is a lot of incentive for the Red Colonels. Good luck to both teams.

I should have been more specific re: breaks. I was referring to some major penalties that were not called vs. Boone (2 obvious facemasks and an obvious hold/tackle that sprung the long kickoff return), players stepping out of bounds unnoticed, etc. Those are breaks beyond the control of the players that affect the outcome. On the last penalty, both players were tugging on each other and it would have been a no call most of the time. Those were breaks Boone needed to win the game.

The Ryle players know better than to have this attitude. Not sure when I've ever seen a game won without great effort. This is not a ping pong match.

Farris had 33 yards in the second half as I tracked it watching the replay. So, I stand corrected. He had 33 yards instead of 40 in the second half. No way he had 211 for the game but he is an excellent back and I take nothing away from him. Boone got a lot of breaks in the game and needed them to win. Great job by both teams of giving all they had.

Farris had between 140 and 150 in the first half including the 82 yarder. He had 40 yards in the second half on 20 carries. Not sure where the 211 comes from other than stat-padding but 189 yards is still too many to give up in a game.

Both teams will lay it on the line. It seems like Dixie has been game ten for Ryle for 3-4 years. It's weird not having any playoff implications. Sure glad it's a rug game at Dixie's nice new facility with the cooler temps and wet week ahead. Those rubber pellets are easier to wash out than the mud stains.

Congrats to Boone. I enjoyed the TV production and the announcers very much. Great game and too bad about the holding call on what turned out to be the next to last play. Stuff happens These are 2 pretty good football teams and chances are there will be a rematch. Ryle's ability to pass the ball will help them in the upcoming weeks.

Same could be said for some Ryle drops. I do not agree that Boone could have had a much easier win. Heck, you could say Ryle could have had an easy win if they stop two long runs. That's not how the game is played.

Let me share a pattern with you in this great rivalry. Boone came to town in 2005 as the "better team" and they went away getting drilled by 24 points. Ryle went to Boone as the "much better team" last year and lost by 12 in Ryle's only poor performance of the 2006 season. Many seem to think that Boone is "the much better team" this year. Ryle is not down as some would say and they have had their only poor performance of the 2007 season (SK). I see the pattern of the last two years continuing. The Raiders will show many doubters what they are made of Friday night against a good Boone team. Ryle has a huge advantage in the kicking game and that will be big. Ryle will pass the ball effectively in this game when needed. Farris will get some yards but under 200 and Doucette will not go wild. No way Boone comes to town on Senior Night vs. this peaking Raiders club and runs away with it. It will be a great football game with two good teams hooking up.

FC took a punt back for a TD on their first touch and it was all Raiders after that. Not sure of yardage but it did not seem like FC got a first down until nearly half time. On defense, FC seemed like they had nearly everyone at the line of scrimmage but Ryle's QB, Benke, kept running off tackle or around the end for big yards. I would guess that he was the leading rusher in the game. Great job, Raiders - you handed it to FC pretty darn good. Now, go get ready for Boone.

Just remember to get back in touch after the Boone-Ryle game. As to this thread, Dixie is coming off of a humbling loss and the game is at Dixie. This will be a very close ball game and I would not be surprised at a Dixie win.

Big plays and TO's will decide the winner. Should be a great game to watch. Best team Ryle has played since Highlands and best team Fern Creek has faced this year. Safe travels to the Unionites.

Pretty obvious to me that you do not know a lot about rivalries in Northern Kentucky. Ryle-Boone will be very close and I have a strong hunch that the Dixie-Boone game will be very close, too.

All the makings of an upset here IMHO. This will be a very close game.
