  1. I believe that everyone all year felt that BGHS and HHS were the 2 best teams in 5A and deserve to play for the championship. For sure, for sure, HHS knows they are in for a battle and they never take anyone lightly, much less a very good state championship game opponent. Either team could pull it out but I believe that only the Birds are capable of running away with the game. If the Purples win, it will be by a very narrow margin. Good luck to both teams and we are pulling for the Cakesters. I hope I do not offend my friends from Highlands by calling them Birdies or Cake Eaters or Cakesters!!!!
  2. A class act. Here's one to honor Coach Schneider: s-super c-coach, h-humble n-nice e-excellent i-individual, d-does e-everything r-right Thanks for your outstanding leadership!
  3. No reason to pick against the Birds now after selecting them as 5A favorite since July. BG will have to take care of the ball to hang with the Birds. My 2 superficial reasons to choose the Birds: 1)I like blue better than purple 2)what is a purple? - a bluebird is a ferocious little pesky feathered friend that can poop in your hair but what the heck is a purple and what can it do to you? Good luck to both teams.
  4. The koolaid just stays cooler and that creates an unfair advantage for our parochial friends.
  5. The Low UV index favors the Rocks in this one.
  6. Ahh, just let all of the SOB's stand together. Oops, you said F.O.B. What a difference one letter makes. As to the game, Patriots would have to force a bunch of Bird TO's to make it close. Just don't see it happening at the Fort.
  7. I love watching T play because they are so well-coached. Best wishes to both teams. As a NKY fan, I'll be pulling for Boone but know so very well the juggernaut that awaits them.
  8. IMHO, outstanding coaching and preparation YEAR-ROUND + excellent scouting, game-planning and PASSING prowess are the keys to T's success. I agree it is not the inherent athletic ability that wins championships for T. I say - everyone needs to work smarter and harder to catch up to that level and not complain about enrollment, fan's attitudes (which seem just fine to me), private/public, etc. Boone, like most teams, falls well short in the above-mentioned keys to success. That's why T will handily defeat Boone, especially at T.
  9. Very well stated. Sounds like a memo to NKY 6A coaches. Boone will need to use the surprise play-calling element and pass on running downs and vice versa all throughout the game to begin to have a chance in this one. T is extremely disciplined and scouts very well and will stop the same old same old with no trouble. Farris barely had 100 yards vs. Ryle and Campbell (second games) and T will stuff the run. Bogle has a nice touch if they give him plenty of opportunties to wing it. Go Air Rebels!!!!!!
  10. I do not understand why Boone County teams (Ryle included) have such a lack of balance. Perhaps it's contentment with just getting to the big game instead of winning the big game. Boone has some nice athletes but has ZERO chance to beat Trinity with typical BC play calling. Perhaps Boone's coaches will give their players a chance by mixing it up, passing to Farris, the TE, a mix of receivers, throwing on running downs, 50/50 mix, etc., but it's hard to become a balanced team when you don't work on it during games. Best of luck to BC as all of us up here would like to see a huge upset. You will need to force many TO's to hang around with an excellent team like the Rocks that are 5-6 TD favorites.
  11. Owensboro and Ryle in game 2 both kept Farris in check. Seems like Campbell did a good job on him in game 2. Boone was not a one-man show.
  12. Haven't peed yet but this is the hardest I've ever laughed reading a BGP thread.

  14. One of the best threads in the history of BGP!!! Beware any BGP members with the following criteria: 1)friend of the Guru 2)possible overeater or overindulger in adult liquids 3)coach on a night where photos are being taken 4)missing some pearly whites Great job, ru. We are laughing with the young man and not at him.

  16. Please tell me what I said that is not true and get back with me. No sour grapes. Where did I say Ryle is so much better than Boone? I inferred Boone is an equal or better team. Enjoy this year. We enjoyed last year.
  17. Too aggravated to post over the weekend: Some thoughts: 1)Congrats to Boone on the victory. You did not turn it over and we did. 2)Ryle players - you controlled both lines of scrimmages and did not let Farris beat you with his running or Bogle and #22 beat you with the passing game - you did your job very well. Two plays (fumble at own 20 and long run by Bogle) were the difference and you outplayed Boone the rest of the night. 3)Great hard-hitting game with outstanding effort by both teams. Exciting finish again. 4)Play calling by both teams is bad, Ryle's is worse. Ryle's play-calling was the responsibility for both losses to Boone. You easily could have won both games this year. Boone had at least 9 in the box yet could not stop the run and they were very vulnerable to the pass and you did not pass except for jump ball type passes. Not using your very good tight end even once was pathetic. Preparation is good but game planning is very poor at Ryle. 5)Ryle's offensive line is very good, much better than Boone's. 6)Boone's DE #88 made some great plays and was the difference-maker for Boone's D. #33 for Boone and #3 for Ryle had the two outstanding hits of the night. 7)Ryle will NOT win games often vs. equal or better teams until they realize that the forward pass is a good thing. I feel very bad for Ryle's players, who work so hard and have such lousy play-calling. 8) Ryle was tougher and stronger than Boone as evidenced by controlling both lines of scrimmage. 9)Good luck to Boone. You will have the same problem vs. Trinity that we had last year unless you realize that you have to execute a LOT (25-30) of short passes and use Farris, the tight end and a variety of receivers, not just #22. Farris will get under 100 yards vs. Trinity if you have the same game plan you had both games vs. Ryle. 10)I disagree that it's not close between Boone and Ryle as far as best 6A in NKY. Who was the best large-school team in NKY last year? RYLE. Boone could well fade into oblivion after this year's talented and senior-dominated team leaves. Ryle will be better than Boone next year. 11)I will miss watching all Ryle seniors. Hope some of you get to play on Saturdays and maybe even one on Sundays. Thanks for a great season.
  18. Raiders will prevail and if the game is a two TD spread (in Boone's favor) see me with a PM and I will treat you to dinner. Ryle took serious control of game 1 in the fourth quarter if you want to be an honest assessor of that game. Boone hung on for their dear lives.
  19. Probably due to Boone's 2 long early runs and Boone leading the whole game until late. After that second long run early in the second quarter, Ryle moved the ball better than Boone the rest of the game as the game was even in total yards at about 350 at the end of regulation. Actually, Ryle had Boone on the ropes in the 4th quarter when they took control of the game. I saw it as a very evenly played game with 2 equal teams and Boone's 2 long runs in the first half were the difference. Ryle will play better than they did in game 1. I would think Boone would pass the ball better than game 1. Should be a dandy, who knows, maybe OT again??????? Hard to imagine a more exciting finish than game 1.
  20. BCFan, the home and away status looks like it changes each year. You are correct that Ryle actually hosted 4 playoff games last year. If I am reading the KHSAA site correctly, the higher seed hosts in round 3 so BC would automatically host if they win. Since Ryle is a #2 seed and either Madison Central (#2 seed) or Shelby County (#4 seed) will advance, it looks like Ryle would also host if they win based on the wording of "lower numbered district in odd years" if two teams meet with the same seed. Ryle/Boone are district 6 and Madison Central/Shelby are district 8. I am not 100% sure that Ryle would host since I am not an attorney  but I am 100% sure that Boone would host if they win.
  21. Ryle in a close one. Will be won by the team that takes best care of the pigskin. Can't see either team running away with this one. The winner has a good shot to travel to St. Matthew's Square although Shelby seems very formidable with their excellent passing attack.
