buckman41ss Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 #2 Ryle falls to Holy Cross. HC 4 runs 7 hits 3 errors Ryle 1 run 1 hit 1 errror Was Ryle caught looking ahead to tonights game with #1 Cov Cath or were the Indians just better for this game?
cooperstown Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Saw the last few innings. Not positive who the HC pitcher was (I think Abelling?), but it definitely wasn't Ryan and whoever it was looked pretty darn tough. In Ryle's defense, they did hit a few hard balls, but right at someone. Looked to be a solid win by HC.

STRIKE3 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Holy Cross has a good team, with 6 of their 9 losses, being by 3 or less.
bulldog77 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Even with the #3 ranking for a good portion of the season, I think Holy Cross has been somewhat overlooked this season. Abeling, Ryan, Cross, Baker, Sullivan are all outstanding players and the rest of the roster are very very solid. They have three very solid pitchers in Ryan, Sullivan and Abeling and they can flat hit. I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a deep run in the playoffs.
luvthemraiders Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 A dropped fly ball on a routine third out where a normally reliable outfielder stumbled led to 4 unearned runs. Very easily could have been 1-0 Ryle. Raiders did not deserve to win. 1 run is not gonna get it done. Congrats to HC.

ChiefWahoo Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 not a surprise outing by Abeling at all, the kid has pitched very well all year.. He doesn't blow anyone away, but has a pretty good change-up, and a well above average curveball, does a good job of mixing it up too. Ryle did hit him hard at times throughout the game, but it always seemed to be right at someone, just a day where it the ball rolled the right way for HC, the game really could have gone either way, a great game from two pretty darn good teams imo
Coachg13207 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 Was Ryle caught looking ahead with Cov Cath today ??
Diamond Dandy Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Has anyone checked on DD? Don't pay the ramsome, I've escaped. LOL Had to travel last night and forgot the laptop. I picked Holy Cross # 2 preseason and the Raiders know they have some good ball players, so I don't think they were looking past them. They committed the cardinal sin of tight competition, they made a few mistakes and the Indians made them pay. Including the shut out of Cov Cath by the Raiders tonight, (Friday) Ryle was on an 11 game winning streak, holding the last 4 opponents scoreless for 31 innings. They will be fine, they just learned the hard way to play smarter baseball.
