  1. not a surprise outing by Abeling at all, the kid has pitched very well all year.. He doesn't blow anyone away, but has a pretty good change-up, and a well above average curveball, does a good job of mixing it up too. Ryle did hit him hard at times throughout the game, but it always seemed to be right at someone, just a day where it the ball rolled the right way for HC, the game really could have gone either way, a great game from two pretty darn good teams imo
  2. According to the link given by strike three the above tiebreakers are only for a three way tie in a district with three teams. A seeding plan for a four team district must be agreed upon by the coaches/principals of the schools, therefore this seeding plan does not necessarily apply
  3. Roenker, freshman from Holy Cross, has been pitching pretty well at the varsity level thus far
  4. I wouldnt be so sure about Ryan, he did throw on monday against NewCath..
  5. well i havent seen them play much this year but they looked pretty solid defensively, i dont think they made an error... they didnt hit the ball exceptionally and if i was thier coach i might want to talk to them about adjusting to an umpires strike-zone, i'll admit some of those pitches might hav been out of the strike-zone but he was calling it all day and for both teams, they also struggled to get a bunt down, HC had a hard time fielding the ones they did manage to get down so its hard tellin' what would hav happened had they been able to get all those other ones down.. Harris threw well minus the one inning he gave up 3, all in all if they cut down on the walks and make teams put it in play they'll be a tough team to beat. I hit here and there wont hurt them but when give people free passes those singles turn into RBI's and the fielders can't do a thing about it
  6. he looked good.. the umpire's low, wide strike-zone helped a lot, there had to be atleast five or six strikeouts looking on a ball low and away. Correct me if I'm wrong but i dont believe he gave up more than one earned run. HC's defense can definately improve, but Jim threw pretty good from my vantage point. You know him and his coaches thought he was doing a pretty good job when they intentionally walked to bases loaded for Harris
  7. Yeah, they walked 3 people in the bottom of the seventh.. not a good way to hold a two run lead
  8. Holy Cross beat NewCath 5-4 on walk off single by Joe Sullivan. The Breds Got off to a 2 run lead before the Indians scored 3 in the 5th. NewCath Scroed 2 of their own in the top of the 6th due to HC's inability to field a bunt. However HC scored just enough in the bottom of the 7th to squeek out the win.
  9. My only problem with Beechwood is the district. The 35th is loaded and its gonna be tough for Beechwood to find its way to the region
  10. CovCath- Popham, Maile Holy Cross - Sullivan, Baker, Ryan, Cross, Abeling Ryle- Murray
  11. I'd hav to agree. The colonols will be able to beat any team with the talent of their sophomore class and guys like Bleser and Popham mixed in but because of their inexperience there is a chance they could lose to anyone so I'm not entirely sold on them yet. The experience that teams like Ryle and Holy Cross hav is just gaudy. I know Holy Cross will be starting 5 seniors this year that started as sophomores (The top 5 hitters in their lineup last year), and from what i gather Ryle is in a similar situation. So I'd say give CovCath a little time to mature before we load on the expectations, and for right now Ryle is #1 followed very closely by HC imo
  12. Holy Cross is the same way... Baker, Ryan, Cross, Abeling and Sullivan all saw the varsity field at sometime or another their freshman year
