  1. Nice article/thread. Not quite sold yet on Scott. Definitely agree on CAL. I think Paintsville could run hot and cold depending on demographics of the area.
  2. There are evaluations based on paper......based on practice.....passing the "eye test".....and ultimately the "on field performance". IMO, while Horton may not pass the paper evaluations, which base everything on Height, Weight, times, etc, etc to a high D1 level......believe me.....he's played against stout competition...and has more than proven his ability on the field. If UK decides to pass on him.....major mistake.
  3. Coach Preston has done a great job everywhere he's been and nothing has changed since arriving at Franklin-Simpson. They should be a threat this year
  4. IMO, Bowling Green is too far west. Venue size is fine.
  5. Great post. Agree completely.
  6. IMO, its tough to issue a standard grade to Highlands. Typically they operate on a different plain than most programs with all the success they've had. If you grade their season based upon past performance......I believe their grade is a D+/C-. No way did they play to the level their history dictates. However, if you apply the measuring stick one would to most programs......probably a solid B.
  7. I think a B+ grade is very fair. A lot of excitement in Paintsville with the success JC and the Tigers had last season. Matney will continue JC's winning ways. Despite dropping the championship game.....still quite an honor to get there.
  8. Tilghman has been a head scratcher for years. Ton of athletes....and a ton of interest. Just cant seem to pull it all together.
  9. Rowan is in complete disarray...I definitely agree with a previous poster who asked about the "parents". If that same group is involved.....problems will continue
  10. I do think Furnish is the long term answer to the myriad of coaches that have come and gone since Graham abruptly resigned several years ago. Unfortunately....IMO, it will take a monumental effort to gain 5 wins with the current roster. Harrison is still battling the numbers game...and its hard to see how they compete with some of the big boys in 4A with 40-50 kids. Big question marks surround the skill positions. Despite the program heading in the right direction.....I see a slide coming this year.
  11. Despite all the injuries Franklin Simpson moves on. IMO...Coach Preston is one of the more undervalued coaches in the state. He's doing a good job of rebuilding FS.
  12. IMO....this one is a toss up. Going with Caldwell in a close one....33-30. Only because it's at Princeton
  13. Great breakdown by ATLCAT. I think Lex Cath does create some challenges offensively.....I'm just not sure if its enough. Been saying all year it'll be a Central/Belfry Championship. Still don't see anyone jumping into the mix.
  14. No chance. Raquan Horton from Belfry is hands down the best player in the two districts....
  15. With the exception of Johnson Central....I would say the schedules are practically a wash. Still not fully sold on Greenup's Defense. Johnson Central's offense has been a struggle at times....Ashland and Lawrence Co were banged up when Greenup played them. I do think their defense is definitely better than Harrison's. Quite Honestly.....Harrison's is poor. Still think that its a toss up. Could be wrong....but IMO, it comes down to turnovers and penalties for both
  16. Bourbon has taken a step back this year....after taking a step back last year. I simply cannot see BC beating Ashland @ Putnam. Not gonna happen.
  17. Well....I certainly feel like Harrison's offense has been underestimated this year. However...the season itself has been up and down throughout. A lot of uneven play despite playing hard. I think that's common with as many coaching changes their group of kids have went through over the past 4-5 years. IMO....their seniors need to play smarter. In the games I've seen Harrison play this season....a lot of stupid penalties. If they can limit the turnovers and penalties....IMO they have a good shot to advance into the second round
  18. Harrison does struggle defensively with the run game. If it's a rainy night....and you factor in the travel time for Greenup.....could be interesting. Like another posted stated.....a win for either team would be a huge shot in the arm for their program. However.....Harrison has already won more games this year than the last 3 or 4 combined......so they've already seen some positives regardless of the outcome. But this game and a potential 2nd round game is definitely important. Harrison loses roughly 20 seniors. With a freakishly small sophomore class.....any positives going forward can only help grow the program.
  19. If Harrison limits their turnovers and penalties....they win going away.
  20. I actually did use the wrong quote. Was meant for another poster. My apologies.
  21. You're right....starting tailback, fullback, center, defensive end and middle linebacker all didn't play.
  22. Then why come on here and discuss Boyle at all? They chose not to participate. End of discussion
  23. Please remember...you saw Belfry less than 100%. First string tailback, fullback, Center, Middle Linebacker and Defensive End all did not play. Believe me....at full strength....they're a different animal
  24. Still think it will come down to Central vs. Belfry. Think Belfry takes another close one
  25. Has top 5 ranked team...in any class...played a weaker schedule than Paris? Just curious
