Franklin-Simpson 2016

Featured Replies

What does Franklin-Simpson need to do to improve in 2016? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Should be a solid team. They should be all grown up by now and ready to play. They have speed, size and the athletes to get the job done. Will they? Time will tell. I hope someone that is closer to the program will tell us more. Who are we to watch for this year?

This is one of the teams I am most interested in this year. I don't know how many they have coming back, but they won at Hopkinsville last year in the playoffs so the kids coming back should have good experience. Can they challenge South Warren is my question? I think they will be second in their very tough district though.

I have read some of your other posts concerning this district and Franklin Simpson, what part of FS interests you? What will be their strengths this season, in your opinion?

Cat, First I admit I am not in the know about Franklin Simpson football and only know what I hear and see from afar. I think they had a nice season last year mostly because of how they finished the year and not by how they played mostly through it, as the word inconsistent could be used mostly (alternating wins and losses the first 9 games of last season). Such is life for 15 to 18 year olds.

IMO, by beating Hopkinsville on the road in the playoffs, this healed alot of uncertainty that would be at your doorstep the beginning of this season. Again, I don't know all there is to know about who comes back but I think your strength will be your running backs. Very good athletes with speed will win FS games this year. I don't know anything about your OLine though. Info?

The defense in 2015 was serviceable giving up on average 14 points in wins and 28 in losses, which is typical of most HS teams. In 2016, are you expecting most key defenders to be back and improved on this unit?

If Franklin has the same schedule as last year it will be challenging going to Caldwell Co, Greenwood, and Russellville. Plus home games vs South Warren and a revenge district game vs Allen County Scottsville.

I have respect for Coach Preston as he has done good things in Franklin. I guess I am most interested in your QB and how you think he will play this year. I think he is a good athlete, but not sure other than that. I think Franklin MUST develop some sort of pass offense. I know your strength is running the ball and I wouldn't change that. But I do think come playoff time to be able to make a critical 3rd down pass is why you either move on or go home.

I didn't put Franklin in my Top 10 last year and took some heat for it and ultimately Franklin was right and I was wrong because Franklin beat Hopkinsville (a team I continually put above Franklin in my list) in the playoffs. I can admit when I'm wrong. But I'm pretty much at the same place I was last year with Franklin at really not knowing what to expect from them.

Can you add some info on about how many are supposed to come back this season on both sides of the ball? Am I on target here in your opinion?

FS will be a good football team to start the year. They could become a great team as things progress. A couple of linemen have received offers from the "next level", one is getting Power Five looks. There is some speed in the backfield and power at the fullback spot which is critical to the Wing T offense. FS is never going to throw the ball around the field 20 times a game but it is expected that the forward pass will be a weapon that is a threat in 2016.

Defensively the Wildcats showed some immaturity early in 2015 when they did not play assignment defense against Caldwell and Greenwood. That will have to be addressed for this team to break into the great category. I think the personnel is there but that personnel has to become a disciplined unit assignment wise to reach their capability.

In District Two South Warren is the team. It will stay that way until someone lays down a challenge. FS should be #2 but ACS will be improved and Warren East will probably show the most improvement. Either could challenge FS for the second seed. To call Warren Central an unknown in both quality and quantity is a gross understatement. As of May 12th one would honestly have to question Central's ability to factor into the playoff scene. As is normally the case grown ups have found a way to make a mess of things.

Very Good Post Mac! How is your QB this coming season? He is dual-threat?

Coach Preston has done a great job everywhere he's been and nothing has changed since arriving at Franklin-Simpson. They should be a threat this year

Plz correct me if I'm wrong, but does franklin simpson open the season up against graves county??..

Eagle, according to the KHSAA Riherds Scoreboard for 2016, it says Graves County travels to Hoptown to play in the Stadium of Champions against the home town Tigers. Franklin-Simpson's schedule is incomplete on this page for 2016.

We open the season at home against Portland, TN

With Wille Reynolds at Greenwood, do you still think WE to be much improved?

One never can be sure of the effect one player's presence or absence may have.

Not sure we'll be seeing any read option but maybe a pass or two.
