  1. Hearing Poynter's name being banted around the Harrison Co opening.....just a rumor or does he have serious interest?
  2. Room for improvement is the only perk to this job. Harrison Co is a complete and utter mess. No support in the building. Apathy is rampant. I don't believe they had a single coach in the building the past few years. Currently....they would have to be considered one of 2-3 worst programs in the state. Kids deserve much better
  3. I would agree. Harrison is by no means a "football school". Baseball...Baseball....Baseball. The kids in Harrison Co eat, drink, sleep baseball. Back to the Breds.....Offensively, Isaac, Newby and Malcolm Thomas should provide some punch via the air and ground. The O-line was decimated by graduation losses.....and will definitely be a weak link. When you take in consideration a completely different offensive philosophy(Stepp's air it out every down)...vs. Graham's mixed bag approach....this will definitely be a transitional year....and it'll take the o-line much of the season just to understand role and blocking schemes. Defensively, Harrison will have some speed.....but not great size. Definitely a transitional year for HCHS... maybe a game or two over .500
  4. What is the financial windfall from the PCB? iIt's common knowledge the proceeds are split.......does anyone know where that figure usually falls? Maybe it's time to consider alternatives to replace the PCB game? It's been a nice run.....and a rewarding relationship. However, if in fact some of the comments that have been posted are true...regarding the anti Belfry sentiment with the current administration.......then I would think a change may be in the offing.
  5. The consolidation could not include a merging of High Schools....Sheldon Clark is the only public HS in the county. IMO, this consoldiation is taking place at the elementary and middle school levels. No knowledge if the rumored Martin Co HS name is true or not.......
  6. No one's making any excuses........
  7. That's the point....that you fail to understand. I don't have a problem with Harlan..or the coaches, fans or players.....the problem is the governing body...the KHSAA.
  8. The KHSAA didn't mandate or force Highlands to play up in class.....that was their decision. Not even applicable.
  9. Unfortunately....despite the distance.....that's where they should have stayed. If not....then they should have been banned from postseason play...
  10. I don't think anyone here is complaining about the difficulty or lack thereof regarding your schedule. The point is....Harlan Co should not be competing for the 3A championship. You're simply not a 3A school. That's the point. We all realize teams throughout the season will play up and down in terms of class.....but come playoff time......All teams return to their respective districts, regions and CLASS affiiliation. This point is not about "Who's better"......it's about fairness and equality. It's just amazing that the KHSAA once again finds themselves in this position.
  11. See that's the whole point of this issue......Everyone...especially the KHSAA knew this was coming. This has been under way for 3+years...and their best case scenario is to put them into 3A........ Yeah...that's a great solution.
  12. That's a great point....can that be addressed by someone in the know??
  13. In your initial thread you stated "why blame the KSHAA, they didn't start up the new school". From that statement...one could discern that the school district made the decision...so they must deal the consequences. I never said the solution was to move them into 4A. I stated that IF they're going to play outside their legitimate class...they should at least have participated in the class closest to their enrollment/ # of boys. Please don't lecture me about Life......We all know that life isn't fair at times. However.....this decision shouldn't be quantitified by "that's just life". We should learn from our mistakes and try not to repeat ill advised decisions....much like the Mercer Co fiasco. Whether Harlan is good, bad or just plain ugly doesn't factor into the equation. The bottom line is....Once again....all legitimate 3A schools across the commonwealth will have to compete against a legitimate 5A school for a championship. Where's the logic??
  14. Why penalize legitimate 3A schools by letting a 5A school participate for a 3A championship? KHSAA set a precedent by letting Mercer get away with it.....If nothing else they should be competing at least at a 4A level. Much closer numbers in regards to enrollment vs. # of boys. It's a joke. If nothing else, they should be exempt from post season competition. Russell lost a championship to a 5A school. Ask their fans how they feel about it?
  15. Harlan County has no business playing 3A football.....Unfortunately, we may witness another Mercer Co travesty....
  16. I hope in the coming seasons...Belfry can get some additional meat on the schedule. We may not be able to get an actual read on this team until the Nov 7th game with Central.
  17. Nathan Carroll is an extremely hard runner for his size...but durability is a question mark. Has a history of leg injuries (ankle and knee).....so I'm not sure how much consistent action he'll be able to handle week in..week out. He is extremely quick and definitely has a chance to make a mark on this team...but durability will be paramount. I certainly agree with earlier statements about Shane Blackburn. He's been an exceptional player since the grade school league. His father (Kenny) was an excellent basketball player...who never played HS Football...despite is 6'5 frame. He definitely has a chance to be a big contributor on this team.
  18. Next week definitely. The offer has been made and accepted.
  19. No official announcement can be made....just yet. But the wheels are in motion.
  20. Actually....in 2003 ...both teams (Belfry and E-town) probably tried on the glass slipper. Belfry had made 3 other appearances in the state finals (79,85,86)....not sure about E-town.....but Belfry had never been victorious until 2003. It'll be slobber-knocker......one that probably won't be decided until mid 4th quarter.....either way.
  21. Sheer numbers certainly suggests that more "Belfry faithful" and opposing fans who are loyal to Eastern Ky post here and are showing wall to wall support for the Pirates.....thus explaining to an extent why very few if any "Central will blow them out" posts. And while I do agree that some here are underestimating Central and their accomplishments..... I believe SOME here underestimate Belfry and their abilities on the field. I don't know who'll win this game......but I'm sure it'll be a barn burner. I guess all the talkin' ends Friday.
  22. Amen. I haven't read the first post by a pure Belfry fan who thinks this game will be anything other than a war. I full well expect one.
