  1. CovCath played LexCath better than anyone last year. It came down to the end. We will find out in 3 weeks if Johnson Central is for real. They should have two easy first round games and then they get to play some good competition. I agree, the 3rd round will not be an easy game for Central.
  2. This will be worst next year when team that finish the season 0 - 10 make the playoffs!
  3. What else does East have in their arsenal that would not have showed during the first game?
  4. Wasn't Woodford County winning when the game was delayed for a couple days?
  5. This is a hard one to pick. Didn't Scott County lose both district games in overtime? It should be one of the better first round match-ups!
  6. Which team has the advantage on a muddy field? Franklin seems to have problems scoring when the field conditions are not great. Just an observation.
  7. Correct me if I am wrong, but next year there may be teams that finish 0 - 10 and still make the playoffs.
  8. Franklin County at East Jessamine will be one of the best first round match-ups.
  9. Lexington Catholic invited LCA to play a home and home series, but LCA declined to play.
  10. Sphire, as well as the Lexington Catholic Football Program, had nothing to do with the sanctions against the school.
  11. I think this thread concerns youth football programs. Most successful programs have good youth programs. I would think the head coach would want a good youth program, if only to make his varsity program better (at a later date ofcourse). I know Lexington Catholic starts their youth programs early with kids playing flag, then at around grade 5 they play 8 man tackle and then on to the middle school team.
  12. If enrollment is such an issue, then how does a school like Highlands (who is jumping 2 classes next year) compete with the big boys?
  13. There will be some pretty good first round match-ups, for example possibly Franklin County at East Jessamine. The problem will be next year when almost every team in the state makes the playoffs. With the smaller districts and more teams making the playoffs then first round match-ups will result in more blow-outs.
  14. They offered the chance for next year and were turned down. Hopefully, they will work it out in the future. It could make for some great games. I like the Catholic vs Scott County game. Every year goes down to the wire and they are fun to watch.
  15. These are some really good players, but I think you have to include Revere (LexCath), Caldwell(LexCath) and Bovard(CovCath) in this group. Revere may be the best player in this region. He is the best defensive back and kick returner with 7 returns for touchdowns.
  16. Keep thinking that way! Who ever comes out of this region will have had to beat some pretty good football teams. Hope Highlands is not overlooking teams like Covington Catholic, Lexington Catholic, Rockcastle Co., and Johnson Central (who must have a pretty good team) What good teams have Highlands beat this year?
  17. I heard that LexCath offered a couple Fayette County teams the opportunity to play them in the Bluegrass Bowl, but they declined the invite.
  18. I think he means that East gets the #2 seed and will play host to a first round match up.
  19. If there is a two way tie, then it is decided by head to head. If there is a three way tie, then it goes to games played outside district competition and the total number of games that a team's wins win.
  20. Playoffs begin a week earlier for these two teams.
  21. LexCath is throwing the ball with a lot of success this year and Justin Burke is not the QB.
  22. Yes, just running the ball can work as long as you are up on the score board. The problem occurs when a team has to make a come back. How do running teams come back late in the game? It is hard if the team has not practiced the passing game. Just ask Bowling Green in the state finals last year.
  23. Kaelin is a great high school QB. Is there a possiblility that he will play another position (say DB) at the next level?
  24. The fact that HHS is defending state champs should play a part in current rankings, but a CCH state championship 9 years ago is no factor in this years rankings. I believe that Lexington Catholic is the defending state champs! Also, rankings do not matter at this point in the season. It only matters the first weekend in December. It should be a fun AAA playoffs because there are some really good teams and who ever is playing the best at the time will be the AAA Champion.
  25. The big question is how much will Bourbon celebrate if they score. One would have thought that Bourbon won the state championship when they scored 14 on Catholic's freshmen last week. They went as far as dumping water on their coach.
